Air Force IPEB

Well I am in the Med-Board process, and have the Office of Airmans Council Legal office working my case; going through severe back injury in LOD, had two surgeries and Lupus-and the personnel at Randolph review wanted to give me only 20% and severance pay, I have what they totaled as 18.5 Active Duty years and right now am in the Guard with 12+ years, and with the trauma and severity's of the injury and chronic pain and possible laser surgery later-that is why I am in the appeal process.

Since I was already being seen at the VA for other issues, I cant even apply for Disability benefits until the Military is done and gives me a percentage and coding. Then the VA will process my paperwork and start my claims.

So I called again and got a different person. Again, very nice guy willing to help (wish PEBLO was like this guy). Said they were still waiting on IPEB findings from the AF. Had everything else they needed except those particular findings. I'll give it a week or two then call back. Was really hoping to start my out-processing this month. 4 weeks with Randolph.
How long has your stuff been with the IPEB? I'm going to try in about a week to see if my ratings have been sent back or at least in the process of being sent back.

4 weeks but I was honestly anticipating next week based on other timelines but that's really a faulty analogy. Lol. I'm just getting conflicting info where it's supposed to be but bottom line is Providence has everything they need except the IPEB findings.

Oh wow I guess my case is moving fast because I was only at IPEB stage for 4 days.

Mine supposedly was submitted to VA at around the 10 day mark but that was 2 weeks ago. I was told today that VA is still waiting for IPEB results from AF. I honestly don't know now but will deal with it next week.

Hey all quick update.
My ratings were being delayed at Providence because of 2 deferred conditions that needed clarification back on the 8th of November. After 3 weeks of no movement I decided to call the patient advocate at the VA hospital I was seen at. It was through him that I found out that the clarification notes were actually sent back to Providence on the 13 of November. Everything that was needed was just sitting there forgot about because they didn't bother to check. Saying all of this to say stay on top of these guys. I know that they are busy but I have fallen through the cracks 3 times already in this process and if it wasn't for constant status updates that I call to inquire about who knows how long my package would have just sat around.

Good call. Glad you found this info out. It certainly pays to stay on top of your stuff because no one else will take care of you like you can. On a hunch, I called my PEBLO since I never heard back from last week. All I was told was that my "package was sent for ratings to AFPC in October and expect 2-4 months before it goes to VA". Wow. Opposite of what OAC told me from what was "in the system" just last week. I went to my local DAV and assigned her as my Power of Attorney (for VA records/access) so she could have access to all my stuff and keep me updated. Very frustrated with my worthless PEBLO.

Wondering if I should call AFPC just to make sure it wasn't dropped on someone's desk and forgotten about. Don't want to jump the gun if a month at Randolph is still too early, but I don't want to wait too long only to find out I should've called to follow-up earlier.

Wow is crazy how the information varies so much. I don't know how complex your case is but 2-4 months seems a bit excessive to make a fit/unfit determination and send it off to the VA. It does sound like the normal scripted response that PEBLOS give though. When I sign my 618 I was told that they were getting ratings back in about 3 weeks. I hope our cases get moving along I would love to get some ratings as a early Christmas gift.

My case isn't that complex whatsoever...it's just I have a worthless and lazy PEBLO and MSC...coincidentally, they both share the same work area. That was the most useless response and "update" I have gotten from anybody. Yes, I know it was sent off in October...what the hell as happened to it since? Geesh, it's not that hard.

I recently got an email about the IDES process...some sort of questionnaire to fill out about my experience with my PEBLO, MSC, and the MEB/PEB process. Suffice to say, the whole thing was marked low as possible. I'm used to be in charge of my own progression and career and being updated on everything, or at least having a constant flow of information provided to me...not the case here and it's really frustrating.

I definitely know how it feels to have both the PEBLO and MSC keep you in the dark but just keep up the work exploring every available option to find out what you need. Like you said nobody cares like we do.
I got an answer why my stuff was just sitting around today and I will be following up later this week to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Update
15 Nov-package sent to IPEB
21 Nov-notified that IPEB received package via email
28 Nov-va received unfit memo from IPEB

Now waiting on ratings to be sent back to the AF but I feel like this part is moving pretty fast.
Wow that was quick. I just got the Mypers email that my package was accepted and was being reviewed at AFPC.

Good luck I hope you get what you want. How long was your stuff with the VA?
They’ve had all my exams since Sept, but have been waiting on the AF for the unfit. As long as it's over 50% for VA then I'll get concurrent pay as I'm over 20, so that's what I'm hoping for. After you got the "The Physical Disability Operations team is reviewing your package to ensure the documentation......." it was only a week until you got the unfit correct? I pretty sure I only have on unfitting condition. (UC) and imagine it should be about the same turn around plus a week or two at the most I'd think.

Yes it was only about a week after I was submitted to the IPEB but I never received an unfit email or an email saying it was going to the VA.

Sorry forgot to update again. So after Providence acknowledged that they made a mistake and sat on my ratings for 2 and a half weeks I'm happy to day that as of tomorrow my rating will be mailed off. I hope that you guys can get some good new this week as well.

Wow, guys. What are you doing to get your package through so quickly? lol.
Anyone's package still waiting for fit/unfit taking longer than a month?

From what I have seen the package move only when they don't sit on someone's desk. I guess they are tired of me calling so they are just pushing it along lol. I'm super respectful because that's the best way to get results but I'm like the mosquito that won't go away.

Are you calling AFPC directly? I've called Providence, PEBLO, OAC. I may call OAC back because she told me if I wasn't seeing any movement to call her back and she would call to start asking questions. Maybe that's what it would take because, God forbid, my PEBLO would be so kind to make inquiries until "2-4 months".
