Admin sep to AFBCMR for med retirement

i was recently seperated for personality disorder (short story). The va has changed my diagnosis to generalized anxiety and rated me at 50% almost immediately upon seperation. Am i correct in the next step being challenging the AFBCMR for an injust seperation and going for a medical retirement? Also how valueble is a lawyer? I know very little avout the process and not many people do around my work and friends circle. Are there other cheaper resources for preapring? How do i begin this process? Do i stand a chance? This is a. Huge deal to me as i feel i was wrongfully discharged and the VA basically confirmed this at my first psych appointment. Any and all information is appreciated. Thank you
