I'll be going through mine at Ft. Lewis.

Were you part of that joint VA/DoD pilot program?

I dont think I was in a pilot program. My packet was fed ex'd to FT Sam upon completion. The MEB doc & PEBLO seemed very smart on the process. They told me that the narratives are very important as well and making sure the PEB board recieves a complete well written commanders letter. They really went through my medical records with a fine tooth comb and annotated everything on my narrative. The MEB doc said that he sends everything he can imagine they could possibly ask for. That way, they can start and finish the packet without having to wait for anything that may be missing.

I'm in the beginning stages of research on behalf of my nephew. Did you have help in going through the process (lawyer, etc)? How does all of this get initiated? My nephew is currently on temporary profile with the National Guard. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 12/09. We are due to give updated profile information from his doctors soon and it won't be positive. Who decides from that point on whether to medically discharge him? And, while he is in the process of being medically discharged, can he keep his TRICARE?

So many questions....so confused.
