PDA Final

My PEB went for Final Review came back today concurring with my 60% service related disability.

Here's my question:

I am a LTC. I joined the Army in 1988. My final get out of jail free card is 25 JAN 09.

My retirement pay is based on 60% of my current rank because it is a medical retirement.

The High-3/REDUX and all those other retirement formulas mean nothing to me now? I meet with my S1 rep tomorrow - and will ask as well.

I'm just trying to figure out the Army side of my disability payments. 60% of base pay is roughly $4400 (LTC at 20) - and tax free from what I am being told.

Thanks

It would only be tax free if your unfitting disability was combat related. I am assuming you will have 20 years of active duty. If so, you can get CRDP if your VA rating is 50% or more. When you get CRDP, they will subtract the amount of DoD retirement above what you earned by service.
