how is terminal leave calculated? I have 14.5 days on books

Just like every other leave you've taken except that you only sign out and never sign in because it's terminal leave.
 
It will come down to the date that you out-process. Typically you will also get up to 20 days of permissive TDY that you can use along with your terminal leave.
 
will they give you your retirement ID and DD214 before you go on terminal leave? or will you have to return to PSD to pick those up?

You only get your DD 214 before going on terminal leave. You will get your retirement ID a day after your retirement or a weeks before your retirement depending on which post and their policy. I got mine a week before my retirement date at fort drum.
