Their system was down last month so things have been moving pretty slow. Usually if it goes over 45 days you will be found "UNFIT" but that timeline could be a little off considering the down time. Have you seen any movement on ebennies?

Ebenefits says pending decisions approval, that was updated just a few weeks ago. The date still says 20170524 when the va finished processing all of my stuff.

I have to question why this is acceptable. Mitch84, I am not directing my anger towards you, please understand that. My PEBLO can access the "system" and so can the LCpl at the reception desk when I call the PEB for an update. My documentation was sent electronically to the PEB. The Informal PEB is a records based determination only, based on my military health records,MEB results, VA exams (DBQ's), NMA, NARSUM and personal statement. All of this information comes from and is currently still available through multiple sources other than the combined lump packet sent by the PEBLO to the PEB.

So if this packet of info was sent from an email account to another email account or a monitored "inbox", what system is there to go "down". That's a complete bullshit answer from the PEB for their lack of accountability for their work. I'm sure there are various different types of personnel "systems" the PEB utilizes to get the overall job done, but if one were to go down, I'm sure it should not put the brakes completely on the process. So what a program is down?..... Everyone go home for the day..........

On another related note, there are MANY of us right now waiting on that "final DOC" to finish or approve our package/ paperwork. If anyone can give some insight on this I would greatly appreciate it. (Is there just one? Did this one guy go on leave for a month? Is this another "system" issue? WTF?)

I understand your anger isn't directed towards me. I feel your pain. My package was sent on June 2nd. I have called my PEBLO once a week since the 45 day mark. She has emailed and called D.C. on numerous occasions to ask what the hold up is because the status of my package changed in the system and she didn't understand the note they wrote "in the system". That's when they told her the system was down. Yes the PEBLOs have access to the system but can't officially tell you anything and that information is only as good as what is put into it.
As I understand, "the system" is what they use to track your package and input disposition (anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong) at each stage. Because nobody could input things into the system things got backed up. Even if the packages have been reviewed with handwritten notes, they still have to be transcribed into the system.

I called D.C. in August and was told the medical officer had my package and I should hear something in two weeks. Called them again last week (30 days after I last spoke with them) and they said it just went to the presiding officer that day. Things are moving but because of the backup it's twice as slow as usual and everyone is overdue on their timeline.
Usually the longer it takes the better chances of having an "UNFIT" finding. I know your patience is thin, but don't let your anxiety get the best of you. We will all be getting results soon. Good luck!

@mitch84: I am tracking on what you are saying but do you find this acceptable? I don't, I'm sure everyone else does not either. I know in my over 8 years of service, every time I was met with a deadline, it was either met or corrections were made and we pushed through and got the job done. Considering what the IPEB actually is supposed to be (informal, records review only) this should not be taking this long even with a backlog. This reaks of a personnel issue, not a "system" issue.
Take note their updated website came online recently.
http://www.secnav.navy.mil/mra/CORB/pages/peb/default.aspx

Now read the "purpose" and "mission" statements.
Then have a look at SECNAVINST 1850.4E specifically page 1-11 PEB time standards, and tell me that does not just piss you off.

This is not just about me, it's about this rediculous medical system and everyone suffering in it.

Well let's be real here, the SECNAVINST 1850.4E is grossly outdated, but more importantly it states (from memory) "shall not NORMALLY exceed XX days". That's technically not a deadline you are referring to. The instruction also does not define what normally means. You have every right to file a complaint or persue any avenue you wish for your opinion to be heard but it will probably fall on deaf ears considering there is no "deadline" as per the instruction or any other type of timeline you will find on their website or even the pamphlet your PEBLO gave you at the start of the process.
I look at it like a goal they are trying to meet but are not really required to. I would much rather someone who is reviewing my medical documentation take more time and be more thorough, that way there is less room for error instead of rushing through it to try and meet a deadline.

Everyone is always posting on here about "My packet should be back now", "my PEBLO is useless", "I've got a job offer I need to be at" or "I'm writing my Congressman".

Every person in this process is getting paid, has health/dental insurance, and a place to sleep. The process sucks. You wait around thinking everyone else is not doing their job. Maybe that's true but you have to stay positive, patiently wait for the results, and do the best job you can in your present job circumstances.

Leave the PEBLO alone. Just wait for their phone call.

Leave the PEB office alone. They get calls like yours all day demanding answers.

All the added stress you are putting on yourself is not healthy.

Please don't think I am putting you down. Maybe it comes across that way but I'm honestly trying to help you.

You will get your ratings. You will get your DD-214. You will leave active duty and get the benefits owed to you.

As someone who has been through the process, I assure you that you will look back later on this time and wonder why you stressed yourself out so much.

Just an update. Called the peb today a Lcpl answered said my case was still with the final doc and should be finished this week. He said they were backed up and had about 600 cases. Also asked about the timeline for the va portion he said it's been as fast as a week turn around taking up to a month. If anyone has heard any different let us know. Thank you

That's good to know about the peb. Hopefully you find something out in the next few days. I was preparing for about 8 weeks at the pep before finding out fit/unfit, so you wouldn't be too far off of that.

Just got off the phone with my PEBLO. My packet was sent to the VA for ratings on 18 Sep.
I bet that was music to your ears! Hopefully the VA sticks with the trend of getting ratings done quickly. Did your PEBLO reach out to you to tell you it was sent to the VA, or did you have to call to get that info?

The number mitch84 gave me was 202-685-6418. I'm really trying to hold out calling, but if you do, let me know how it goes!
Yeah I'm really trying not to but they only get updates here every two weeks and I just really need to know but I will!

@USMC.JCA This is the light at the end of the tunnel. I reached out to my PEBLO. Couldn't wait any longer. I knew it was in the QA phase Thursday of last week and that if I was found 'UNFIT' they would be sending it to the VA this week. They will only call you once they receive your findings from the PEB and will not give you any updates. You have to call if you want to find anything out.

@kaylahersh
If you give the PEB a call they can tell you exactly who your package is with and you can figure out a timeline from there. Only reason I called them was because I couldn't get in touch with my PEBLO.

No movement on Ebennies yet (except for the dates changed) and I called the VA on Monday and they said they had not received anything from the PEB yet. PEBLO said it should take anywhere from a month to three months, but I've been hearing ratings are coming back to the PEB in about a little over a week or so. Hopefully this is true in my case.
