After being rejected a few times by the specialist my PCM was referring me to for initiation of PEB, it finally came down to the only person that is able to do it locally is my Command Medical Officer. Which is good because he knows my case better and actually sits in the same office as me. But I'm not sure of a few things... What should the Dictation cover? What information should be included? How important is it to have your dictation be very thorough? If it does not "paint" the right picture, can I request for it to be re-written? Or does it even matter?
Here is the website on DoD Social Media: DoD Live The site seems to be focused on efforts to get out messages, and less of a communication tool (two-way). This strikes me as a fault of higher echelon DoD Social Media. It seems to be more of a broadcast than a conversation. Unit pages seem to do much better. This is just my impression and hopefully this changes over time.
Hello, i have a question. when i went to get my summary done, the doc that is writing it up said that he was going to say my range of motion was fine but i cant handle any weight. i told him that i dont have any range of motion. but he didnt say anything. now i dont know what to do. i go in next week to read over it. should i have another person redo the whole thing or what. i dont know what to do. im so lost. do you have any idea what i should do. im ready to just have this shit done with, but at the same time i dont want to get screwed you know. any and all help would be great. thanks. kelly
After leaving the VA service officers building I was really confused. I was told by very knowledgeable people that I could apply and start the VA disability and medical care process wile on active duty. To possibly get treatment and consoling there since my appointments on base have month long gaps in between them and are becoming more of a hindrance then help. The VA service officer told me that I can not do anything with the VA, absolutely nothing until my medical discharge is complete and I have my DD 214 in hand. Can anyone clarify? Regards, Drucey
i just received docs from the VA for a re-eval of my rating. I seen where i could claim non-service connect problems with that, but i already made it clear as to what i wanted re-evaluated. i havent sent off the packet yet, i am still collecting statements, docs, records and the like. can i add a non-service connected problem that i feel is exacerbating my main problems after i have already made it clear in my letter to them of what i wanted?
I have approximately 3 months left until my ETS and am getting sent to an MEB for sleep apnea requiring CPAP. I was told I could not deploy to Afghanistan with my unit but can to Iraq. Currently I'm non-deployable to either because I'm undergoing an MEB. If all goes well and it takes 90 days I will be done with my MEB about 2 weeks before I ETS. I just heard that my Sergeant Major's intentions are to send me to a unit that is already in Iraq once my MEB is complete with just two weeks or less in the Army. Should I be transitioning while I am going through the MEB? If I am found fit for Iraq but not Afghanistan with such a short time left in service is there any basis for defending my case to seperate? If my MEB takes longer than 90 days...
Hello all. I am new to the site. I just received my final ratings today from the Army and VA. I am completely confused on the pay calculations to include CRSC. My PEBLO could not even help me with an estimate. Here is my situation: I am an O-4 with 9 years of active federal service. I am medically retiring due to combat-related injuries. I was awarded 70% from the Army and 100% from the VA and placed on TDRL. However, I have no idea what my pay will be. I am married with 4 children and I am trying to get an close estimation to prepare for the future. Could anyone assist me with calculations? If I have not provided enough info, please let me know. Thank you. Travis
I have roughly 2 months on my profile left before my MEB is initiated. I am being processed for a disk bulge in my middle back causing telescoping pain in my ribcage area. The pain has been there for 2 years now so it's safe to say the Disk bulge isn't going anywhere and the area that it's in I guess the doctors cant do anything to remove it. I am an avionics troop and I dont have any issues at all with my AFSC specific duties. The only problem is I cant do PT because of the pain and how a lot of exercises aggrevate it. I am not overweight nor have I ever been and before my condition I always scored in the upper 90's on my PT tests. I've never even gotten an LOC before and always show up to work 25-30minutes early ETC. What are my...
Hi i am asking for help as i have one month of active service left. I was found fit for duty by a Navy PEB for becoming insulin dependant Diabetic. Then the navy turned around and gave me notice that i was getting an invol Speration due to Medical reasons? Now i have looked at the Vasraq and it gives a minimum of 20% for diabetes. So how can they do this and how can i fight this before i am to be seperated. Also they are only trying to pay me half-seperation pay. I have over 13 years of active service. Any help would be greatly appreciated by myself and my family. My wife will be 6 months pregnant when i get out so this is not a good time for the navy to do this.
One of my friends just went to D.C. for Formal board for his Marfan's Syndrome and related conditions. He was told by his lawyer that if he went before the Formal Board he would walk with nothing because it is a known congenital disorder. She told him the best thing to do is take the 10% and file for VA. This being said, I'm worried. A few of my conditions are "known" as congenital. Though, my doctors are still considering certain conditions that I have to be of traumatic component. I have been Active duty for 4 years and 2 years ago, due to 2 MVA, was the onset of my symptoms. I have also been diagnosed with a condition that definately is congenital (I have several, serious/rare conditions, and about 9 conditions total). I'm worried...
Couple of questions... My husband was placed on TDRL September of 2008, for his left arm injury. Since on TDRL, his knee has had a much needed surgery, which the VA did. And PTSD was found and he is currently being treated for. My question is, when he called back to be re-evaluated for TDRL, can the knee be added and PTSD? Or will just the arm be evaluated. Thank you,
Good afternoon- I am active duty Air Force O3 and my case was forwarded from the local MEB to the IPEB last week. Some background information on my medical issues -- I have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, polyarthritis, and Raynaud’s. These conditions make it extraordinarily difficult to accomplish even minor tasks and I am very fatigued all the time. On the bottom of my narrative summary my PCM wrote “member desires to separate from the military.” My PCM asked me point-blank several times if I had any desire to stay in and I always conveyed to him that I do not. I have been dealing with this illness for several years and it is only getting worse, therefore making it increasingly difficult for me to do my job...
This is my first post so I hope I'm putting this in the correct location. I am over 18.5 years in the Coast Guard, and have been diagnosed with Patellar Tendonitis in both knees. I have a few other minor problems also but they aren’t relevant for this discussion. I was diagnosed earlier this year, and have been in Physical Therapy for the last 6 months with little to no improvement been prescribed Motrin for several years. I have full range of motion in both knees, however, whenever moving from a sitting to standing position, or climbing stairs / ladders I have significant pain, and repeated motion produces swelling. I am currently attached to a ship, however cannot get underway or even stand watch in port due to climbing. My...
I was injured on Active Duty in the Air Force in Sept. 1998. I had 3rd degree burns to both arms due to electrocution. I was put on convalescent leave while healing from my injuries. During this time I was returning to my base for regular checkups. I had an IPEB done 21 DEC 1998, my AF Form 356 shows in section 9 Diagnosis the following. Category I - Unfitting conditions which are compensable and ratable: None Category II - Conditions that can be unfitting but are not currently compensable or ratable: Second degree burns both hands and arms, status post debridement and skin grafting with a 7802 code. In section 12 its marked Return to Duty. In section 15 Remarks it says, A1C Roby is still recovering - he has not yet received optimum...
My husband has been in for 9 years and due to a ATV accident in 2007 he has a level 3 ac separation in his shoulder and dislocated collar bone that's permanently bulging out. He has had surgery and it did not increase his range of motion or his ability to lift with his arm. He cannot even lift our 1 year old son or throw a ball with our 9 year old. His doctors said that they have no other options at this point other that to med board since he is unable to carry a fighting load, or wear a IBA and of course no push-ups under doctor advice. I am researching all I can on the meb and peb trying to get as educated as I can about our rights. I have tried to find a similar case to get some kind of idea of what we might be awarded disability or...
I've found a lot of information on what happens if one is found unfit or needs to be found unfit but I'm having some difficulty finding information on what happens if you are found fit for duty and want to return. I'm hoping to be found fit and would like an idea of what to expect. Also, is there a time while on TDRL that the person can argue for return to service? All these MEBs and PEBs are confusing and my last evaluation came back saying I could not contest the findings as it found me to still need to be on TDRL, I assume it was a PEB. Many thanks.
I have a question I was told I can't apply for VA benefits while still in the reserves is this true? I'm about to have Hip replacement surgery and was told by my doctors that my back injury while Active duty (8years)might of been the trauma that caused AVN so I believe this surgery can be service connected. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
My MEB has started and am trying to get a few straight answers. I am in the MEB process for spinal fusion, bipolar, and sleep apnea. I have had two surgeries on my back and am now on a cane and have to use a hoveround a good bit of the time. The MEB Dr did a range of motion in his office and said I only had 5 degrees to the left and right. He never did bending forward or back because it causes my spasms to start and I fall. I talked to someone I know at Walter Reed Jag and said I will see my 30%. What do you guys think? I also wanted to know if I can get my Army retirement and VA disability at the same time or if it would be reduced somehow or something funny happen that im not understanding. If anyone could help that would be great.
I am looking for place where I can see a step by step process from begining to end for the disabled veterans returning from OIF/OEF. From to PEB/MEB process to the VA rating. That explains what returing Veterans are entitled too. Such as SSDI and Civilian job Disability. I have looked around and there seems to be confusion on when to start each step. Or how to start each process. Or what steps they are entitled too. Thank you!
I served the Marines in Desert Storm, Infantry, and then after leaving the Corps I joined the Army National Guard. In early 2003 I was activated with my unit to operate a Mobilization Center in the Midwest. I served for five years until February of 08. While on AD I was diagnosed with and treated for a rare form of cancer in the fall of 2006. I was treated and returned to duty several months later. I began to hear that I might be sent to an MTF for a board. I was never ordered to go but it was mentioned that it should happen. I said that I would prefer not to be transferred away from my family if possible. Nothing ever happened. Just before I demobbed I provided my Commander with all of my medical records. He provided them to the State...
