Getting into WTU

History, I have to messed up hips post op 4 months on right and soon to be receiving the next in 4 months. I have 8-9 months left until my ETS. I was wondering how hard it is to get into the WTU? I would elect to be a cadre member if that helps at all. I have a lot I mean a ton of personal issues. One that I can speak about is that I was erroneously ETS'd from the military on active duty and my pay withheld for 5 months. They still owe me. I had to file a congressional appeal. Anyway, I met the requirements for everything that I read to get into the WTU. Is there anything particularly difficult about it. I should be MEB'd most likely. The surgeon told me that I had to have a change in lifestyle or I would be seeing him again for much worse.

yes, I have seen this. I have not read through the entire thing. But i did read where people will be sent as a rule not an exception. So I am still confused by what you said.

With you only telling small bits of your story no one will be able to fully help. Here is what I can pull from what you gave.

1. It would not be hard to get in to the WTU as long as the surgeon/PCM recommends it and does there part.

2. Your unit has nothing to do with you going into the MEB that's all on the DR. I don't know what rank you are but if you feel as if your not getting the treatment you need I always go higher.

3. I don't see how you where erroneously ETS'd out of the Army with out you knowing it. That leads be to think there more to the story then what your telling us. if they erroneously didn't pay you for 5 months then that means that you unit did it on purposes so they should have moved you to another unit. If you haven't got your back yet then there is something wrong. That you may need to speak with IG about. yet this is coming with only knowing a 3rd of the story

There isn't more to the story. I was ready to leave and get my DD214 and received a called from HRC saying that someone calculated my ETS date wrong when first entering the military it was off by a year. They paid me off and on for a few months due to overpayment of entitlements which only amounted to 1300 dollars. They took over 11000. Then I went to fix the ETS error and did. But when the date came I had a hip surgery on my old ETS date. I was coo coo for 3 weeks didn't realize what had happen unit lI got back. Somehow the local HRC even with know about the ETS date error processed me out. Right now I have had a 4 month open congressional case to fix the problem. still no word form it.

1. The congressional can take forever or can go fast.

2. have you talked with your IG at your post/ what level have you took your issues too.

3. Have you been referred to the MEB?

4. do you have a copy of your contact from when you came in the frist time?

5. The unit level had to know/ be tracking that you where getting put out because they needed to do stuff on there part before you could get proceed out. Its not something that just happens. Your Unit to some extend knew.

6. if you hip surgery and was on con leave You would have feel off your units books likes say ETS date of 1July2014 but they would have still been tracking you coming off con leave on the 15 of July 2014. Your Company and battalion commander would have had a to sign paper work. to pass though.

yes, SGM and BCM told me to go to the congressional office. Thats when you know they're (DFAS) is fucked up. I had a problem existing before the ETS thing. I was over paid entitlements by 1300 bucks. but they took about 13000 instead then the ETS thing made it way worse. I went, my NCOIC went a lot, my S-1 went multiple people, then my SGM go involved each time it was said to be fix and no more would be taken. Each time the next pay check was screwed up. SO I went. I tried IG, the SFC I spoke with was an absolute moron. I even went to JAG. they all told me to get the congressmen's office involved.

FYI all that your congressmen will only be able to tell you is what you all ready know.

1. If DFAS over paid you by $1,300 and now says that you know owe them $13,000 there should be some paper work that they sent you.

2. You can go to the Finance and get a copy of the transactions that have took place on your pay so you can see Y they took your money. ( Find this and will tell you where the mistake was made)

3. From your what you said your original contract was may have been wrong. ( go on to you IMPERS and find you contract and what does it say your ETS day is?)

4. Have you been referred to the MEB?

5. when is your ETS date?

in a nut shell if you haven't been referred to the MEB it may be harder to get in to the WTU not impossible just harder.

Ok my question is this, who do i have to talk to about getting into the WTU Unit, cause my unit is saying that I do not meet the standards to be placed in the WTU unit, is their anyway I can still be put in the WTU if my unit says NO to me going.

The WTU should have an Ombudsman that you can speak with, they are the liaisons for the WTU. I do not recall if the unit had to support it. If you are in the MEB process you can also speak to your Nurse Case Manager to see if they can assist you as well. I know there was a big packet I had to fill out for some of my soldiers to send them there, memory issues really reduce what I remember. There was a checklist for how much you had to go to Dr. appointments, so on and so fourth.

I tried getting into the WTU, but Alaska had so few spots it was impossible to get in.

Fighting right now to be put into Alaska WTU but told because im in the MEB, no chance.
