At 19 years 5 months Active Duty in the Navy I was referred to the PEB after they disapproved my 3rd LIMDU request. Here is my timeline for the DC area. Ok, so this bears some telling. 4 MEBs in 12 months? That has to be a tale.

I hope you understand to delay this process so you make it past the 20 year mark. I'm concerned your NARSUM was signed so quickly without an IMR or other means of delaying things. MEBs have been moving fast and you only need to draw this out about 3 extra months.

The 4 med boards I refer to are called Abbreviated Medical Evaluation Boards in the Navy which are filled out on a NAVMED 6100/5. My first placed me on limdu for 6 months, second put me on limdu for another 6 months, third recommended me for a third 6 month limdu period which was denied by Navy Personnel Command and I was directed to be referred for a PEB. I had to do a fourth Abbreviated Medical Evaluation Board to refer me to the PEB.

I only have 80 days until I hit 20 years. I don't see the need to delay since I still need the board to give me their determination, ratings from the VA, plus I have 85 days of leave now and will have 60 days of leave as of 1 October. I don't feel the need to stall and I don't think I am gambling at this point. There is a lot left.

Not to mention if you find you need to drag it out a little more, you can appeal your IPEB results or request a reconsideration of your proposed VA rating. That would surely put you past the date.

Indeed, the "need" to delay your DoD IDES MEB/PEB process upon official acceptance may not seem warranted to you at this point albeit it's in your best interest to be fully "aware" of all DoD IDES appeal opportunities to ensure you reach 20 years of active duty federal service in my opinion. ;)

With that said, please take care, continue to get well and most important to enjoy life to its fullest extent as feasibly possible!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

I called a friend that works in the IDES program for the Navy. He logged on this morning and told me that my IPEB didn't start for three weeks after receipt and they have been reviewing it for over a week. It is only frustrating because I have seen 2 other unfit findings come back after only 2 weeks from receipt.

I have to go to formal hearing in Texas next month for ptsd and blood clots reason I gotta go is presume fit because I have orders to retire with 20 years. What is my odds are they customer friendly at the board or any good idea to attack the board to be unfit? Again thanks

Okay, your assigned FPEB attorney needs to present your IDES case file (e.g., the medical conditions which you prefer to be unfit) in a way to show that those medical conditions are indeed "unfit for duty" at this point in time.

As such, please ensure that your assigned FPEB attorney has all medical evidence and medical documentation available to support a potential "unfit for duty" finding while at the FPEB hearing.

In retrospect, the members (e.g., three in total) of my previous FPEB hearings performed their assigned duties in a professional manner. As such, I felt "at ease" when sitting in the chair while my assigned military FPEB attorney was presenting my IDES case to the FPEB members. This included when my FPEB attorney started asking questions so that I could provide "detailed" information about how the medical conditions (in question) currently affect my performance of military duty.

Moreover, your assigned FPEB attorney shall do all the talking and you can only make statements when asked or if you so incline to make any statements. The FPEB members shall ask you specific questions so that they can obtain a better comprehension about why your medical conditions should be determined "unfit for duty" while at the formal hearing.

In my opinion, your odds of obtaining an "unfit for duty" finding is 50/50 as supported by your medical evidence/medical documentation and your given testimony. Remember that the FPEB hearing is a "formal" board so you are required to "report" to the President of the FPEB with a salute upon entrance. No worries, your assigned FPEB attorney shall give you a briefing about how to conduct yourself while at the FPEB hearing; if not, then please make the inquiry!

With that all said, I hope that you receive a favorable determination by the FPEB at the conclusion of all official proceedings upon your attendance! Take care and enjoy life!

I was notified there were two errors with my package. First, I chose not to do a formal rebuttal to my NARSUM, and my attorney and PEBLO stated that I could address two small issues in my personal impact statement. This was incorrect and I had to fill out a formal rebuttal and route it to the convening authority of Walter Reed. Second, a LODI was never conducted for my Motor Vehicle Accident. The PEB stated I could just have my CO/XO sign a SF 600 stating it was in the LOD and not due to misconduct and that would be acceptable since the accident was in 2013.

Even though eBenefits stated it would be down all weekend for "status tracking", I decided to login anyways. After 5 months and 7 days of it telling me "Gathering of Evidence", it has finally changed to "Review of Evidence"!!! Hopefully this means it will be over soon. I just hit my 20 year mark, so at least I don't have to worry about CRDP eligibility anymore!

Received word today that I was found unfit by my PEBLO. Timeline is in my signature.

Congrats on getting your UNFIT finally!

Ebenefits updated today to Preparation for Decision!

Ebenefits updated today to Pending Decision Approval.

PEBLO called, ratings are in! 100% VA and 30% DoD.

Indeed, congratulations on the recent receipt of your DoD IDES IPEB findings! :)

Hmm, it seems to be an oversight with your signature timeline data at this point! ;) Take care!
