Mypers Notification!

My case has been ongoing since earlier this year, and I've been creepily stalking this forum for months... my case went to the VA on 5 July for ratings. Unfortunately, my PEBLO hasn't been the best at updating me... never got told if I was fit/unfit, figured it out myself by reading these boards and when my case was sent off for ratings. PEBLO also wouldn't tell me what my proposed ratings were from the VA. Got the same answer every time: when the IPEB finishes your case, I'll contact you within 24 hours... so I called the VA after the 10 days and had them fax me my proposed ratings packet.

Well TODAY, I finally got a mypers notification that my 356 was completed! Hopefully I'll know today or tomorrow on my fate.

Hang in there. You are almost done with this process.

Hope your results are what you expect.

Congrats on the movement! It gives me some level of hope. As patient as I am, I also must admit that I am SO VERY tired of this lengthy, convoluted process. My MEB started exactly 273 days ago and I haven't even seen an AF IMT 618 yet. My package has not been sent to the VA yet, and if I don't call to get each step going it seems that no movement usually takes place. I can literally no longer serve physically, and I am constantly told that I won't be retained (based off my near-complete paralysis). Trying to work out future employment issues and housing is nearly impossible since practically everything is based off of your ratings, ret/sep date and compensation amount. I don't know either of those 3 things and my family is trying to get as prepared as possible, but without knowing anything...its pretty challenging to help lock anything down for them without waiting on the IDES process and then rushing at the last minute.

Got my ratings! 50% DoD and 100% VA! DoD is permanent, but I need to be reevaluated on the VA side for a couple things relating to anxiety/headaches/etc within the next 3-5 years (not really sure how that timeline is made). It's been a looooong process, but seems to be ending on a positive note! I'll be signing next week and was told to expect orders within 1-4 weeks thereafter. I'm thinking end of October for my retirement date, since my CC only gives 1 day per year served for PTDY, instead of the full 20 for everyone. I still get 12 days PTDY, which I'm thankful for, on top of my 22 days of Leave, and 20 days of outprocessing time.

One day per year? I've never heard of someone using that policy. Either way, congrats on the results.

Congrats! That is a strange way to grant PTDY, but it is up to the discretion of the commander. At least you have a few days to take a breath before you start your next chapter.

Yeah I wasn't really expecting to hear that from my first sergeant, but it's what the CC does so I won't complain. Has anyone had to be re-evaluated for the anxiety/headache conditions by the VA? Whats the process of that? I know they don't rate them as "stable" at first, but what are the chances of my rating being reduced later on?

ruyehara47,

How many days of leave did you have prior to them assigning your official retirement date? I only have 22, so if I receive my orders end of next week/early the week after, I think I may be stuck in the middle of October as my retirement.

I had 40 days. They will usually try and make your retirement the last week of the month, so they might push back your terminal/ptdy date back to fall at the end of October

That's definitely ideal. When are you supposed to start outprocessing? I was under the impression that basically the day after you receive your orders, your 20 days of out-processing starts.

i started out processing the day I got my retirement order. You will stay on outprocessing status until your SecAF designated Date of Retirement - (PTDY +Terminal leave). Hope that makes sense.

It does, I'm just trying to figure out your days. Orders received 15 August. 20 days PTDY, 20 days outprocessing, and 42 days terminal puts it at 5 November. How is your date 27 November? Did you get extra days?

I'm at Hickam(OCONUS), so they give 30 days PTDY. They added 7.5 days leave because I would have accrued that by going to the end of November. I think the 20 days of outprocessing can be adjusted, so I figure that is how they worked out my date. As with everything Air Force there is a waiver for everything.

I was originally med boarded for my back, ended up with an overall 100% TDRL due to my anxiety potentially getting better (rated 50%). I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea prior to retirement in November 2017, but after my med board was complete, basically during my out-processing/terminal leave. I was given a CPAP machine which I use regularly every night. I know the rating should be 50% for the sleep apnea, and have medical records to show the need.

How would I go about adding sleep apnea to my list of disabilities, and upgrading my 100% TDRL to 100% PDRL? I assume the 50% sleep apnea would overrule the 50% temp anxiety rating.

Also, would my entire rating go under a re-review with potential downgrade of other individual ratings?
