I’m being put up for a MEB because of my neck issues. I’ve had 2 surgery’s including a fusion. I started getting these hot feeling headaches that sat right behind one of my eyes and was probably the worst pain I’ve ever felt.. They were so bad I went to the ER a few times before I went to see a neurologist. After a couple months of visits with him he diagnosed me with a headache condition called Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalalgias. My question has anyone had any experience claiming that condition with the VA? If I don’t take my medication (Indomethacin) I’ll get anywhere from 5-15 of those miserable headaches a day. Really just looking to see if anyone else has this and dealt with the VA.

In retrospect, I have severe migraines/headaches issue too but they were just diagnosed as such by the DoVA.
In reference to the DoVA D-RAS or a DoVA Rating Agency, they will mostly be concerned with the frequency of symptomology of your headaches and not the actual medical diagnosis when contemplating any DoVA official rating. Indeed, the medical diagnosis for your headaches shall be most useful to validate that medical condition fortunately.
Moreover, an important note to consider is that you should start or continue to maintain a migraine/headache log; it can be highly useful to validate military service connection by the DoVA to include assist with the award of any potential DoVA official rating. Hope this helps! Take care!

We’ll that was kinda my question, on my meds I get zero headaches.. but if I miss a dose or I’m not taking them at all I get multiple in a day. Does the va take into consideration the effectiveness of a prescription?
From my past and current experiences with the DoVA D-RAS and DoVA Rating Agency, indeed yes!
As such, I have a similar situation while currently on my mental health medications x 5 which are taken on a daily basis. When taken daily, my symptomology has improved enough for me to function somewhat normal albeit if I miss a day/dosage then all symptomology shall immediately return resulting in a pending self referral back to the DoVA mental hospital.
That said via medical evidence and/or medical documentation, the DoVA D-RAS and/or DoVA Rating Agency should be fully aware of the medical symptomology prior to taking any prescription medication and medical symptomology after taking the required prescription medications.
In my opinion, your current medical situation requires the use of prescription medications to ensure the relief of the medical symptomology associated with your medical condition. It would be in your best interest to ensure that the medical physicians are fully aware of your current medical condition symptomology when taking the medications and what immediately occurs if the medications are not taken on a daily basis/dosage.
