New DoD Timelines for IDES process

The Department of Defense recently updated the timelines for processing of IDES cases. The resource for DoD Directive-Type Memorandum (DTM)-18-004 – “Revised Timeliness Goals for the Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES)," can be found here:

I intend to post a detailed timeline at each phase in the future. For now, know that the overall processing of IDES cases should be processed faster (from 295 days to 230 days- basically, two months faster).

Note the effective date is July 30, 2018.

[Note: Site Founder: He is a former Army JAG who served at the Army's TX Formal PEB as Chief, Soldier's Counsel....Think important as in many things "it is said one does not know something truly" until they either "teach it" or have in fact "practiced it a very long time"....????]
 
I find it odd that they have no real means of tracking actual timetables across all service branches, following logically they also have nothing in place to allow them to identify bottlenecks (I.e. reliable data, reporting, BI, etc..) in order to actually improve their current timetable.

I'm not sure I understand the point of something like this other than to give the impression they want things "done faster".
 
Timelines are laughable. I'm going on 5 years of trying to complete a MEB. I have an O-7 and a CSM trying to help my case along to no avail. The Army National Guard obviously doesn't care after I've given 25 years of service.
 
The new drive to move cases faster is still ongoing. We've already been told that the new target will be 180 days by this coming October. They are actually drilling down to find the bottlenecks and working to eliminate them one by one (including some that may provide more due process to service members) The Services are already moving processes around to attempt to make that new mark. Buckle up, it's about to be a bumpy ride...
 
My MEB is now actually moving...I was told that I will be out by Thanksgiving. Fianlly....after 5 years of BS.

Got my NARSUM back two weeks ago. Depression, left knee, and right foot listed for DOD disability. Looks promising to come back 50 or 60%. Now the waiting game for PEB findings. Signed my NARSUM on Friday the 13th of September 2019 LOL.
 
My PEBLO just sent me documentation, dated 28 Aug 2019, of updates to the separation portion of the timeline. This is for AF only, I'm sure.

Does this mean you would start leave 15 days after signing stating you agree with your ratings? The policy also does not indicate if it's calendar or duty days.
 
From what my PEBLO explained, the first 15 days are days you are 'working' but actively wrapping up your outprocessing. There really should be clarification on whether that's calendar or sequential, for sure. 3 weeks vs 2.
 
Usually it’s work days since none of the departments are open the weekends, except for Guard or Reserve units(but for only one weekend a month)
 
Is this new guidance for everyone or is it branch specific?
 
The whole "Fit to Fight" initiative makes me think it'll be DoD wide, eventually, but the document itself is purely AF.
