I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask. I apologize if it's not. I have 2 questions.

1. Can you get a VA rating if you have health issues that you didn't have before the army even if you are just ETSing and not getting meb-boarded? If yes, can the VA rating be done before the ETS date?
2. Do you have to be on a permanent profile to get recommended for meb board?

Typically you can submit your VA Claim up to 180 days prior to your ETS date for quick claims, as far as being 100% that it will be completed prior to your ETS date, no one can tell you whether or not that is possible.

the MEB Process is automatically initiated when you are placed on a P3 profile.

Pre-discharge Claim

No. The IDES system is separate from Benefits Delivery at Discharge. Both can result in VA compensation payments, but only the IDES can award disability retirement from the DoD.

So the VA benefits are the same like monthly payments except for the DOD benefits? I am only taking about the va rating not the army(dod) rating.

Theoretically the VA benefits should be the same either way.

I am a Army reservist who has a VA rating and I'm starting the MEB process. I have 20 yrs of services with 2 deployments. Does the MEB go quicker since I have a VA rating already?

You can always choose to do the LDES if you have a rating already.

It really is a matter of what you want to do and what you are trying to achieve

I am not familiar with what LDES is? Unfortunately I am not in a position to wait til I'm 65 to collect my retirement. So for my family and I, receiving something sooner rather than later is best for us.

LDES is the option for you to file the claim on your own and be separated now, if you have a rating you can draw from the VA switch what you have if not mistaken, your PEBLO can explain the processes and you will be asked to make an election
