Struggling to find DTAP

First post, just stumbled upon this forum through a Google search.

I am stationed at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. I am active duty Navy with 11 years of service, and I just found out from PEBLO on Thursday that I am unfit. A friend of mine who kind of got screwed over by the med board system 10-15 years ago said that I should take a DTAP class.

I have contacted PEBLO, LIMDU coordinator, VA hospital, Veterans Benefits Administration regional office in Baltimore, Walter Reed military hospital, Fleet & Family Support Center, and more to try to find a DTAP class. I usually get one of two responses. Either 1) they have no idea what I am talking about or 2) they mention TGPS and the fact that disability claims are covered then.

Is there anyone is the DC, southern Maryland, heck even Virginia area that has attended DTAP recently? When, where, and contact info would be greatly appreciated.

Personally I think you are better off going to TGPS. DTAP has good information but most of it is dedicated to the MEB/PEB process (D in DTAP is Disability). DTAP is a one day event. The VA, PEBLO, Attorney and some other folks come in. 3 to 4 hours of the day are dedicated to explaining the MEB/PEB process and meeting with the attorney. Since you have been found unfit you probably do not need the process explained to you and I am guessing you have at least consulted an attorney once. Also, TGPS is a "have to be done" requirement, so you will have to attend it anyway. Just my $.02.

BTW I would be weary of your friends advice. This stuff is constantly changing and if his is experience is 10-15 years old the information he gives you might do more harm than good. Please do not take that the wrong way, but if you live by the gouge you die by the gouge. Good luck.

Okay, I didn't know what was actually covered in the class, thanks for that. Also, I'm taking what he says as a jumping off point. It's someone with experience to at least help me to ask questions that I might not have known to ask otherwise, etc. That's why I wasn't even sure if DTAP still existed until yesterday on bookface.
