Hello all,
Thanks in advance for your input. My current situation is that I have a 10% DoD rating and was found unfit to return to duty (appointment where this was assessed was about 3 minutes long). I am in medical school at the moment on a combination scholarship/vocational rehab (chapter 31).
Here's where I'm at: I understand better the nature of my health condition. I have coping strategies and while I still deal with depression and PTSD, I deal with them effectively. Right now if I could, I would rejoin the military as a doctor when I'm done with training.
Do I appeal the decision and try and get deemed fit? If so, do I go back on active duty to my old community/MOS and leave medical school? Do I forfeit vocational rehab?
If I am unfit now, does that mean in 3 years when I'm done with training I'm still unfit? Is this a bridge that once I cross I can't come back from? Any advice or thoughts?
Thanks so much everyone.
