PDBR phone call

Thank you. I am happy to report she is very responsive and helpful, which is refreshing when compared to the PDBR. I appreciate you providing the contact. She told me that the Navy received my package today and the timeline is roughly 60 days before I should receive my letter. However this works out, I at least know I am in the final phase of the waiting process, its only two more months, and I have a point of contact that responds in a timely manner to my questions.
Glad to hear. I havent heard anything back as of yet. Last she said was there is no update yet. Mine was sent by the PDBR on June 15th 2019. Dont know when the Navy received it though...more hurry up and wait...luckily the wait should almost be over. BTW, did you email her or call? Ive only emailed.

That is one thing that is certain, hurry up and wait. I never called. I emailed her. I was just pleased with her responsiveness and detailed descriptions of what has to happen along the way until it is signed and mailed. I figure I’ll wait the sixty days and email her then if it hasn’t shown up.

I was not a member of the USCG, but I have had some interaction with that branch concerning CRSC matters (which is not the issue discussed in this thread).

I suspect the PDBR recommendation was sent to the U. S. Coast Guard Pay & Personnel Center.

The following contacts might be of help:

Telephone

(866) 772-8724
(785) 339-2000

Fax

I do understand that you are already familiar with the info above.

This is excellent information. I appreciate your help!

Any updates?

Unfortunately not. I spoke to someone in the medical board dept in the Coast Guard. Even though the PDBR said the Coast Guard has it, the Commander and Lt. of the Med Board headquarters said they didn't have it yet. They would call me back after doing some research. That was 10 business days ago.

I have had one experience with the Coast Guard and it involved their incorrect computation of CRSC for CH 61 retirees. Eventually, the office of a senator become involved ( I wrote the background material and provided the formula). Eventually, they agreed and began an audit of all CSRC payments to CH 61 retirees since 1 January 2013. I have a copy of the letter they sent to the Coastie I helped.

The point of this anecdote? Obviously they are a small service; consequently, they have limited resources. Recommend you contact them once a week.

“My” Coastie was ignored.

Good luck,
Ron

Sorry to hear it Chef, and Ron as always great insight.

Chef Sal,

I tried to DM you a while back, but not sure you ever received it. I am also CG and waiting for the CG to give the final sign off, but when I spoke with the rep at PDBR he said that he had to figure out a way to "securely" send our final determinations to the CG. He made it sound like maybe their original CG contact no longer is there or something along that line and also made it sound like there were a few CG cases waiting to be transferred... including mine and maybe yours?

I didn't see it to the best of my knowledge, I'm sorry brother. I didn't even get the notification for this comment! Crazy timing though because on Monday I got a phone call from a Mr. Humbles with the PDBR. It took me contacting the Commander and Lt. of the Coast Guard Physical Evaluation Board to get ahold of him. Mr. Humbles called me and was actually very very very odd on the phone. I answered and he said "Hello". (Like I knew who was calling) then he said, "how's it going?" (Like he knew me) and I say, "hello, may I ask who's calling?" He said and laughed, "It's the PDBR". I teply, "oh wow, hello! It felt like I was supposed to know who was calling." Then he said, "Nah, how can I help you?"
I explained the situation to him, but the entire conversation was very very weird. He stated ALL of the USCG PDBRxs were sent to the wrong department for final review and that they had sent them to the correct place and are awaiting that for completion.

He didn't know how long but I asked for a ball park of 30-60 days. We'll see but that conversation still freaks me out. It was odd and uncomfortable to say the least.

As weird as it is, it seems like you are finally in communication with the coast guard, which hopefully bears good fruit. Best of luck Chef!

Re: “Odd and Uncomfortable “

There are many people in positions where they communicate with “customers” but are not very good at it or their hubris detracts from their message. However, I echo the comments in the post by visserjr3

Yeah, that's the same way I felt after talking with whomever I spoke with at the PDBR... sounds like it's the same guy. Just a weird conversation and left me with more questions than answers. So if I am understanding your post, he told you they are still with the PDBR awaiting final review, or are they now with the CG for their approval? Would love for them to be out of PDBR hands... feels like I have been waiting forever... almost 3 years at this point. Thanks for the update! There are so few CG, it's nice to see I am not alone.

You are definitely not alone brother. He stated they attempted to send them to the USCG but they sat on the wrong desk for God knows how long so hopefully people like us finally got through to somebody to determine something is severely wrong. And it was. So our cases got sent back to the PFBR for them to figure out who the correct personnel in the USCG were. This was 2 weeks ago so hopefully by now it's made it to the USCG

Welcome to the forum! The PDBR point of contact for the Navy/Marine Corps is Ann Jones. Her email is below. Once it leaves the PDBR it goes to her. Best of luck!! John [email protected]
