Last week my prelim. Ratings were in 70% referred 90% total VA. Ebennies was at Pendindlg decision approval.
As of yesterday, ebennies went back to preparation for decision (phase restarted 22 Jan). Now I am freaking out that those.ratings aren't going to stand....anyone have an idea what the heck is going on?

Probably going to the PDA for approval. The PDA can change the unfitting conditions but not the rating assigned to those conditions. It isn't overly common for the PDA to change the PEB results so I wouldn't worry too much.

Same thing happened to mine but jumped back the next day, but dont go off ebennies, and the everyday checking, itll make you go crazy and make time go by slow,

It's not over until the fat lady sings...

Like the stock market- it's all about long term gains. If you start second guessing everything it WILL drive you crazy. I know it's hard not to do that but for your own peace of mind, don't read anything into it. The only thing that matters right now is the final ratings. With a 70% for DoD, in my opinion, you're in a good position.

Good luck

So what happened in detail? It's been at the VA a long time. Still nothing in ePEB, I am unsure of the accuracy of the first answer (the PDA changing the Army rating? from the VA?) I am just confused about the whole process. If they communicated effectively then this whole process would be great, but there is no dependable transparency.

I had so much stress lifted from the 90% rating... now I am angry again, and can feel the screw job coming!

I said the PDA can change the unfitting conditions (you said your Army ratings were 70% and your VA ratings were 90%). The PDA can add, subtract, or modify your military unfitting conditions. The PDA cannot change the percentage of disability the VA assigned for those disabilities.

Right, but I am not clear on if the PDA is the approving authority at the VA? I thought it was awaiting the VA approval then back to the PEB. I was just a little unclear as to why the PDA has anything to do with the VA.

That wouldn't hold up his VA ratings only thing it would holdup is his 199 getting typed up, so don't worry about that right now just focus on your proposed ratings, if you have your prelim then your just waiting for a signature and then they will send the ratings back to PEB, if you been waiting over 2months then that's when you should be concerned but if not then you have to wait it out

1 Nov 2012- VA Received Packet (Unfit Memo emailed by awesome PEBLO on this site)
3 Jan 2013- Ebenefits says Pending Decision Approval (VA confirms Decision is made, just waiting on supervisors signature)
Got my ratings by calling my MSC last week, and yesterday went back to Pending Decision...so you think it is already back at the PEB and the PDA is changing the ratings of the Army?

My calculations previously of 70% Referred (I'm guessing thats what the Army rated me at) and 90% VA would have given me a decent amount a month, if they downgrade the 70% to 50% it takes over 600 dollars away from the monthly outcome... Crazy.

I wouldn't know, but you have to stop bugging yaself, the 1800# can tell you if your proposed ratings had been sent to PEB, even your MSC or PEBLO can, contact them first before listening to people on her, they'll just confuse you more

My MSC commutes on Wed. and Thurs. to Fort Irwin from Los Angeles, then back. So, He just left the office and I have to wait for him to get back to LA before I can talk to him. My PEBLO... totally useless, I'd be suprised if they even call me when my 199 is in! ha. I feel ya, a lot of this site is speculation, and peoples own opinions, that's why I want for hard evidence from someone that actually knows the system. Our PEBLO friend on here.. is very very helpful.

The PDA does not change rating percents. They could add to or take away a rated condition as being fit, or unfit, but can not change percentages. They are locked in by law to the percent the VA awards for a condition. It would be very rare for them to take away an unfitting condition and they would need to have a lot of evidence to do so.

You are pinging for no reason. All this negative energy you are throwing out is gonna kill you. Just sit back, wait and everything will come together in the next week or two. If for some reason it does come back unfavorable, you still have levels of appeals left.

This is exactly why the VA, or anybody else is not supposed to give you proposed ratings before you see your 199. By doing so, they open the door to lot's of stress and speculation. It is better to see a finished product and make a decision based on what is sitting in front of you. Again, stop stressing, this will all go well if you can survive the stress you are placing on yourself thinking about this.

Hence why I was ruled unfit! LOL. I Stress about a lot of stuff now, the little things piss me off, never did before. Docs say its just a result of TBI. I am still just trying to get my future plans in order.. and it is difficult without a concrete % ruling. I agree.

Oh ranger, Thanks for the help with the resume... I applied for a few more, if you Email me.. i will send you the info. Crossing my fingers.

LMAO... it changed back to Pending Approval.. I just giggle now, because it's just so funny how little transparency there is in this whole process.

You are more than welome. I am glad to see you are plugging along and still sending them in. It will pay off for sure. Hopefully I was able to help, even if just a little. I know with your experience you are going to land a good job. My email is [email protected] if you want to send me anything. I will also keep my eyes out for jobs you may be interested in. Just hang in there and keep all the nuts and bolts together until this process is done. You are on like lap 480 of a 500 mile race.

So what is the deal with my process. The ratings were complete 2 Jan... still nothing. I call my PEBLO, and she is rude is all hell. My MSC is awesome, nice guy, and says he doesn't know why I haven't heard anything yet. This is getting silly... especially since we have to be so calm and professional in the face of rude PEBLO's.... She never even lets me finish my question before she answers something totally different! I just DO NOT know why I haven't gotten anything on ePEB, or DRAS hasn't gotten my packet to PEB.. what the heck is going on!

Ok if your ratings were finished on the 2nd, they went to the PEB on the 3rd. It takes the PEB 2-4 weeks to put everything together and issue a 199.

When you packet goes from VA to PEB it goes in a digital stack of other SMs in the process. Once your file is at the top, the board reviews your case and the VA ratings. They can agree or disagree. 99% of the time, they agree. Now they go to work dictating your 199. After it's all on paper, they review it and sign it. The next day it goes out to your PEBLO.

The thing you have to remember is you are not the only one. There are many others and if they are backed up, it takes time. I received my 199 25 days after the VA finished my ratings. You are at 21 days. It will come this week or next week. If you haven't seen it by Thursday of next week, ask your PEBLO one more time. If she gives you no information, I will give you the number for a PEB analyst at the PEB and they will tell you when to expect to see it. If you don't want to wait, search the forums for my posts and you will find a couple of posts I already provided the number in.

I understand I am not the only one, I was told everything was electronic now... so what's the hold up with 199? I thought it would be out much faster now. Its cool just anxious thats all.

The hold up is they still have to reveiw the information, input it onto a 199 and then get it signed. That doesn't take place instantly when there are hundreds of cases. Even when stuff is electronic, they still have to have a human perform their steps.
