    Got orders, now what??

I was just a normal national guard guy. They offered me a 15 year guard medical retirement, which then I’d get no money and have to pay $1000 plus a month for insurance, or a active duty med board/medical retirement since my ptsd was caused while on title 10 orders in Iraq. Choice was easy. So...

    Got orders, now what??

Was given the choice between Tricare select (the old Tricare standard) or Tricare prime. I went with Tricare select since it resembled Tricare reserve select which was awesome. Even better now since I don’t have to pay a monthly premium

    Got orders, now what??

Well, I applied for CRSC online via email. Heard it may take a year. For insurance, I believe I have to wait until my retirement date of March 13th. Then I think I’m automatically enrolled in tricare select, or I can enroll in prime. Probably have to wait till March 13th for dental too. Guess...

    Got orders, now what??

Got my orders for medical retirement, date shows March 13th. I’m national guard. Retired 100% DOD PDRL and 100% VA, all for PTSD. So what do I do now? When can I apply for CRSC? When can I switch tricare from reserve select to life or prime? Thanks-

100 rating for PTSD and places on PDRL

Yes Deffinitly sounds like a confusing benefit. Guess I’ll apply soon and hope for the best. One last question. If I was to only collect the medical retirement and no VA pay, would the medical retirement be tax free and not counted as income since everything on my 199 is caused by “combat”?

100 rating for PTSD and places on PDRL

Thanks for breaking that down, I was under the impression that’s how it works. Can you confirm if I am correct on my assumption regarding receiving retired pay if I lost my VA pay? If my retired pay is $2500, then VA is $3300. I’ll get the $3300 VA, then a few hundred for CRSC If approved. If...

When do you get retirement if reserve?

Quick run down on my situation. 3 years active, 12 Guard. Rated 100% va for ptsd, not permenent. I expect this to be reduced in the future since I work. I got 100% DOD PDRL last week, all market combat etc. I’m an E5. Think 75% of my Base was about $2500. Here’s how I thought it would work...

When do you get retirement if reserve?

Did a few years active, currently Guard. Just got my DA199 back and signed it. Was given 100% DOD. Thought I would be eligible to draw it immidiatly even though I’m 32 years of age. So should be getting 75% of my base. In another post people are saying something about since I’m reserve I...

100 rating for PTSD and places on PDRL

Not sure. I was under the impression since my conditions occurred while active, and that I went threw the MEB like a normal active soldier, it would be no different. Guess I have to research more. Any one know for sure?

DA199 Section V question (about Federal Service)

Under section V on my da199 number 1 says: The disability disposition is based on dieseasd or injury incurred in the line of duty in combat with the enemy of the US and as a direct result of armed conflict or caused by an instrumentality of war and incurred in the line of duty during a period...

100 rating for PTSD and places on PDRL

I know that PDRL does not mean my VA ratings are permenent. I anticipate my VA rating being reduced in 2019 if anything. I read about CRSC claims being denied for PTSD often. I’ll take my chances though. My DA199 says it resulted from a combat-related injury under the provisions of 26 USC 104...

100 rating for PTSD and places on PDRL

I have 15 years guard, with 3 of those being activated. So no where near 7200 points. What do you mean by I wouldn’t get retired pay till 60? I’m 32, so if I lost my VA rating today, I wouldn’t get any retirement from my medical retirement until I’m 60? 28 years from now..

100 rating for PTSD and places on PDRL

Nice. Trying to make sure I understand the CRSC correctly. So I’m 100% with the VA (100 ptsd 10 tinnitus). Not PT. So I’m getting about $3300 from the VA. I’m an e5 so say 75% of my base is $2500. I’ll get the VA over the 75% since it’s more. I then can get CrSC since it’s combat. Since I...

100 rating for PTSD and places on PDRL

Just got my ratings back, says 100% and permenent. Then also says caused by combat. What now? Is my rating safe for ever now? Unlike with the VA? If I loose my 100% with the VA ever, then I can fall back onto 75% of my base pay? Will it be tax free and not count as income since combat related...

    When is combat related decided?

Got the same question. Think it’ll be on the da199
