I was reading that the CO will write a Statement for a Med Board. Medical referred me and is supporting it. I don’t trust the COz van he affect it or stop it??

You don't want a very positive statement from the CO anyway they use his statement to determine to retain you or not. He gives a valuation on your work performance.

Yes, he will know all of your referring conditions and have to comment on how they effect your performance. Its similar to a recommendation letter from the CO (or eval). You will draft it and send it up the chain of command, however, he will sign it.

When you write your draft you will set the tone of whether you want to be retained or not. The Non-Medical Assessment (NMA) is the document I am referring to.

Ok, is this the case even if Medical referred me for the board? I believe my CO will do what he can to prevent me from getting Medicalky retired if he knows that’s what I want..

It is the case, but he will not be the only one looking at it. This process is totally separate from the CO's purview. The MEB/PEB process is initiated by medical and run through separate independent channels from your operational command. This is to protect your interests and also to ensure that the process is administered fairly for all parties.

The only major influence he can make is through the NMA. There is a specific line that states "Does the service member desire to continue their service? YES/NO" and the instructions direct the CO to get the answer directly from the service member.

You can also submit a narrative statement to be reviewed by the physical evaluation board and there are several steps to rebut/appeal along the way.

The CO has input, but does not make the decision. A board makes the decision and they don't always side with the CO.

The way it was explained to me today actually is your direct supervisor will write the NMA in my case my Chief. Then its routed to the CO where they will read and sign unless they want something changed.
