VA RAMP

Can anyone tell me how long I should anticipate a VA ratings reconsideration to take. I will be accepting my corrected IPEB results (assuming they're actually correct) and submitting an appeal through the RAMP process due to some new/updated medical info. Should I still anticipate a 1-2 month turn around from the VA, or has the RAMP made the process faster?

RAMP was discontinued on February 19, ahead of full implementation of the Veterans Appeals Improvement and Modernization Act of 2017, which is now in effect.

Appeals are taking roughly 125 days, or 4-5 months.

125 days? even for those still in the IDES process? After I accept my PEB findings, this is the only opportunity I have to appeal the unfitting conditions, and I will not be separated until after the PEB gets a response from the VA on my rating reconsideration. That seems ridiculous after this process has already taken over a year...

You're in luck, actually. Appeals used to take 5-7 years.

But I hear you. It also depends on the complexity of your case, but all appeals are taking 4-5 months currently, whether you are a part of IDES or not. Everything falls under the VAIMA at this point in time. All lanes in this process, initial, higher level review, and supplemental, are averaging 4-5 months (125 days) and direct appeals to the Board are taking 12-18 months (1 1/2 years).

Claims themselves are also unfortunately channeling into becoming backlogged. A few people have waited 2-3 months, some as long as 6-8 throughout the forum here, and it looks as if the situation is worsening.

On one hand the wait doesnt bother me because I'm still active duty and getting a good paycheck, but on the other hand, HQMC has told me they'll only give me 30 days to separate/ retire once the results come back... hard to search/apply/interview for jobs when you have no idea when you're getting out... even harder when you jave a family and am only gonna get 30 days notice to uproot, move, and get established/enrolled in schools for a new job... For a service that prides itself on taking care of their own the Corps is real quick to show you the door... but put it in the dark so you dont know it's there until you're walking through it...

I fully understand the frustration, because I've been there. Do you have any leave left? Rather than selling back, I actually began terminal which allotted me a little more time during the transition.

I have about 30 days of leave, plus the 20 days of transition PTAD, but I can't take the PTAD until I have retirement orders (date). I can't schedule PCS move until I have orders... we have to be out of our rental June 15th... How does the "PCS awaiting orders" work?
