CRSC Application Cover Letter

Hello,

Hoping the gurus and others who have been successful can answer a question for me.

I'm curious if it is acceptable, or even encouraged, to include any kind of typed up MFR/cover letter with my CRSC package. The main intent would be to explain, in a short and concise manner, what documentation supports my claim. One claim will be for MH (anxiety w/ panic attacks) that is direct result of traumatic event in combat. The doctor specifically said it should not be classified PTSD, but anxiety due to some medical jargon. He also said, in all my documentation there should be a very clear connection between your MH condition and the combat trauma you suffered, but it does not meet clinical definitions of PTSD though caused by a traumatic event.

Sorry to blab, but I'm trying to avoid a quick denial of part of my claim simply because the supporting evidence it buried within a lot of paperwork. If I could point them to the important part, it may help the process.

OR, let me know if I should just fill out the DD form, and attach all pertinent medical records and let them do the digging.

Thanks

I have submitted numerous VA claims over the past 15+ years and have received CRSC since ~2006. Several of my CRSC applications were reconsiderations due my VA rating increases. I included a cover letter precisely like what you have described with every application.

Good luck,
Ron
(VA approvals began at 20% and incrementally increased to 100%%)

RonG, thank you greatly for your speedy response. In that short time you replied I read the DD2860 in detail and have another question, if you don't mind.

Do I need to fill out a separate DD2860 for each condition? Block 13, and subsections, certainly looks intended for 1 specific condition; with no other sections for additional claims. I'll be claiming 3 conditions: Partial Blindness, IBS (a presumed condition), and the aforementioned Anxiety. So, 3 separate DD2860's? OK to send them all in one mailed package?

Thank you, again.

I never submitted separate DD 2860s; I did have additional sheet(s) attached to DD 2860. Of course, most of my applications were long ago. [see post 5 for clarification]

Instant replay:

From DD 2860:

"NOTE: To ensure the review of all of your requested disabilities, limit ONE disability for each page. You are authorized to make
additional copies of this page for any additional disabilities.
You may list any secondary conditions that are connected to a disability
on the bottom of the sheet that it has been connected to. In order to award any disability as secondary we must have a copy of the
evidence from VA or from your medical records which clearly states that the condition is the result of the primary condition you are
requesting. Good evidence could include a VA rating decision that clearly states (for example), "hypertension is secondary to
diabetes."

"It is your responsibility to supply any evidence necessary to verify this disability is combat-related."

Thank you greatly for you help, very much appreciated. I apologize that the answer ended up being on the very form I was referencing, but thank you for pointing that out.

In hopes to help the community in some way, and not only be on the receiving end of help, I'll post my timeline in this forum section once it's complete or denied. My DOS was 2017, so it'll be a retro example.

That is an excellent idea and offer.
