- 26 APR 2019: Submitted for IRILO.

I’m a little concerned about the entire process. It’s been nearly two months and nothing has happened with my case. I was told the “IRILO package” was submitted but nothing has come back yet. I called the PEBLO and she said she hasn’t heard about my case (she hasn’t been assigned to my case yet). I do not have a code 37.

How long does an IRILO typically take? Another member in my squadron proclaims that she has been waiting on the IRILO for nearly a year...is that normal?

I think it depends on your location and/or the drive and or experience of your PEBLO. My IRILO started Oct '18 and I didn't hear anything nor was I contacted for updates; I always had to call and ask and the PEBLO said they would not contact me until AFPC came back with conduct full MEB. My package was not submitted until April '19. This process is added stress and everyone takes their sweet time. I know ppl in other locations with what started to be a similar timeline as mine that are now 2 steps ahead of me.

Well, I got some disheartening news this past Friday. The IRILO has not started. When I called the PEBLO, she had no idea who I was. I called the flight nurse to see what was happening with my Med board—she informed me that my doctor has not written my NARSUM and there is no expected timeline.

I get that this process takes a while. However, I have issue when my doctor tells me one thing...then reconfirmed it with me a month later...and he hasn’t done what he said he did. I have issue with that. If I didn’t want to strain relationships and risk it, I’d file an IG complaint. I’m really not sure what recourse I have. My commander has been notified.

Updated timeline:

26 APR 2019: Submitted for IRILO.

26 MAY 2019: Doctor confirmed that we are still waiting to hear back.

28 JUN 2019: Found out my IRILO has not been started. PCM has not written NARSUM. PEBLO doesn’t know who I am. I was told no timeline. Commander notified (he was also lied to by my PCM).

I'm sorry to hear about your situation!

I had a very similar issue happen with me as well, except they had been dragging their feet for much longer than a couple of months. I ended up getting my leadership involved, switching PCMs and it ended up working. They started on my initial NARSUM immediately afterwards.

May I ask which base you're MEBing out of?

Timelines are hard to predict,. IRILO can be complete in weeks after submission. But a key player can be on leave and the whole timeline is thrown for a loop.

my va.gov hasn't updated since 6aug...which is before i was informed that i was found unfit and sent to VA for ratings by my PEBLO. still waiting on ratings and nothing updated on VA.gov......so frustrating...just hoping that my case is moving and not just sitting on someone's desk for the past few weeks...

Are these the ratings you were hoping for?

Are these the ratings you were hoping for?

Affirm—I have some follow on ratings for the VA that I’ll have to get added later, but this is about what I expected.

I was rated 40% for the sciatic nerve. The VA did not give me a rating for the common peroneal nerve (which looked like 20% per the DBQ). The VA MSC told me that they only rate the overall nerve condition—not the other nerves that are affected because of the sciatic damage. If that’s untrue, please chime in.

Essentially, DBQs looked like 40% for sciatic and 20% for common peroneal. The VA only gave the 40% for sciatic, and that is the 40% for which the USAF found me unfitting.
