I need help understanding dates on Disability Retirement Orders!!!

I just received my Retirement orders and the following dates appear and I would like to have a clear understanding of what they mean

Basic Pay: 22 years, 4 months, 17 days
Disability retirement: 19 years, 7 months, 9 days
Section 1405: 21 years, 4 months, 5 days
Date initially entered military: 12 October 1995

Can someone explain me what each mean? I have an idea but I want to make sure. Looks like when I did my calculations for my Disability Retirement I was off buy a month, meaning now the Army calculations show an extra month...( I think). I don't know what that came from so I need to understand this pretty quick, to see if it their mistake or mine.

Thanks

Here is another question that may affect all this as well, what is your Base Active Service Date?

Then my orders are wrong because 19 years 7 months and 9 days using the 360 formula = 7059 active duty points
My point statement reflects 7135 active duty points

So they messed up somewhere...
Re: “Disability retirement 19 years 7 months and 9 days AFS should be aprx = 19*365=6935 + 7*30 =210 + 9 = 7154
My points 7135/360 = 19 years 9 months 25 days”

I have only converted points to AD for CRSC estimates. However, if I was to back into the points accumulated from the 19 years and 7
Months, plus 9days, my computation would be:
(19 x 360) + (7 x 30) + (9 x1) = 7059 as shown in the orders
However, If your point statement shows 7135, then...(7135/360) = 19.81944 years ... (360 x 0.81944) =~ 295 days... (295/30) = 9.33 mo
(.33 x 30) = ~10 days
TOTALS: 19 yrs + 9 mo + ~10 days [some rounding] Note: There is probably a reserve-related chart that breaks down the increments of a partial year. This is somewhat in line with your computation, only a few days difference.

From a non-government website (but a good overview):
“The Reserve retirement starts by taking your total number of Points and dividing by 360 (Remember, the military considers a month as 30 days for pay purposes, so each day is worth 1/30th of a month; 12 months would then equal 360 days).”

FYSA

295/30 = 9.833333, then .833333* 30 = 25
You are absolutely correct...nice catch.
FWIW ... that is what my cell phone calculator showed (in history), but obviously not what I keyed into the post.

Your BASD is what is one of the issues is.
Nov-Apr= 5months
12-5=7.

I recommend while trying to Correct the points that you also submit for COAD to get you to 20 years AFS.

There is another train of thought here that may be mute. What is your VA and DOD%? What is your retirement pay supposed to be? and do you have any combat related or GW related VA disabilities? Playing this train of thought out on the CRSC side vice CRDP.

I submitted a COAD already and got denied. (another of my posts COAD DENIED BY ARMY IN RECORD TIME)

MY DOD is 50% and my VA is 100% P and T - Retirement Pay is aprox 4,700.00 - nothing I have is combat related

The only thing I can remotely fight is my back due airborne ops - but my orders stay no on all those categories...

So can you elaborate why the BASD is an issue? I think my BASD is wrong. I joined the PR ARNG in OCT 12 1995 as SMP/CDT. I joined Active Duty 21 Jun 1997. I never had a break in service. I was in the IRR from 21 Jun 2000 to Sep 2000 but never been out the Army since I joined in 1995... SO what should my BASD be?

That is the date they calculate your active duty retirement off of due to having reserve/ national guard time. Your BASD is 000421, your AD retirement date is 200421.

200421
191112(rough estimate of chapter 61 Orders)
0520 5 months 9 Days difference

Any rated injuries that can be related to Jump Status and have been rated by the VA could help restore some of that money lost via CRSC if you cant get the time and or dates fixed to receive CRDP prior to 58 if not sooner if you have qualifying time for reduced age retirement.

I am literally going thru the same mess as you are...trying to figure out and fix my BASD. My Active Duty points do not add up to my current BASD.

To figure out your BASD, you need to add up all the Active Duty time BEFORE your most current AGR enlistment. Then subtract that from your start date of your current AGR enlistment.

You said you started Active Duty 21 June 1997. What is your end date of that Active Duty time period?

What is the start date of your current AGR time that you are currently on?

BASD gets really complicated and confusing when a soldier has multiple breaks in service, going from one component to another and then back ect...

If soldier stays on active duty all 20 years in a row without any breaks in service, then the BASD stays the same date as you first enlisted into Active duty

If there are breaks in service, it gets confusing and complicated

The picture I posted was done this morning by state G1.

My current BASD shows 09 July 2001.

But as you can see from the picture, my BASD should read 21 April 2001.

Hopefully the picture with the math and all helps make the calculation of your BASD easier.

Divide by 360 is for years
Divide remainder by 12 for months
Divide remainder by 30 for days
(from the CFR)

I started active duty June 21 1997 ended June 20 2000
Irr June 21 2000 to sep 1 2000 apx

Tpu sep 1 to 5 Nov 2004

AGR NOV 6 2004 to Nov 6 2019

Active duty points before AGR tour = 1,656 points
4 years 7 months 9 days

AGR entry date 2004 11 06

Therefore my correct BASD should be

2000 03 27

I must have missed some of your active duty time prior to AGR start date. I did not come up with 4 years 7 months and 9 days, taking from 21 June 1997 thru 20 June 2000

However, you have your paperwork in front of you, as I do not, so you know best...

If your calculations of the new BASD is 2000 03 27 but your official paperwork shows BASD of 2000 04 21, then I would highly suggest you quickly link up with your BN or BDE S1 / G1 and submit it for corrections.

Sorry
Yes I was active duty on those dates (1977-2000) but also during my TPU time ( 2000 -2004) I was MOB twice ( have two dd 214's) and I also added all my active duty points in my record for AT, ADT, ADSW etc.

Oh ok. That makes much more sense. Again, I would make an appointment with your S1 / G1, bring all your paperwork and calculations and sit down with them and request for your BASD to be updated / corrected / fixed.
