PDBR decision and timeline.

After reading these post, I understand it takes alot of time before we receive payments. I did call the number to attend the SBP meeting, even though I do not have nor had dependents.
You just submitted your packet in May of 2019? And you were retired already?

First I’d like to congratulate you on the good news! Now I’d like to complain that I’m still waiting on the Army to make a decision. My docket # is PD-2017-03742. I received an email in June that they had sent it to DDA for sign off. Anyone else experience this? Is there still a site showing dockets and their outcomes? Thanks and good luck to everyone else.

Thank you! Welcome to the forum! There is a point of Contact for the Army named Mr. Al. The DDA is some acronym like Direct Decisional Authority, in your case the Secretary of the Army. The website showing results, "the reading room?AF Boards " page has been down for months. Best of luck!

I found Mr. Al for the Army, his contact info in another thread is quoted below. I believe he is the point of contact at the Army. It is my understanding from reading others, it goes to him at some point when it is forwarded to the Army by the PDBR. Good Luck!!!!

So I got good news yesterday, I called Al from Army HRC 1-877-577-3065 and he had my file on his desk. He needed a copy of my original orders, and the member-4 copy of my DD-214... because he was processing my 30% retirement... I am trying to hold the celebrations until I have it in writing, but I am encouraged. Funny thing is he stated that they have 120 days to respond, and that they were getting it done early... I assume he is correct, but I thought it was 45 days to decide, plus 10 days to notify...

Plan on going Friday to get ID cards, and enroll in tricare. The letter also explains if nothing received from DFAS in 90 days, call a number. Still guessing June/July at the earliest.

In line to get deers updated and ID cards. Glad I left the wife and three year old home. CROWDED. One thing that helped me was I literally brought all passports social security cards birth certificates marriage license and all.

Do you have contact info at all for Marines? 3-10-2020 would be 120 days

Welcome to the Forum! Ms. Ann Jones is the Navy POC for the PDBR. [email protected] is her email. She gets the packages once they leave the PDBR for the Navy and Marines. I would email her if you know the PDBR has forwarded it to the Navy. I never called her, so I do not know her number. Best of luck!!

Good morning. Just wanted to update my timeline for those wondering. I am still waiting on DFAS. I spoke with them three weeks ago, and they said to call back this week. So, this week, I called back. They have all of the paper work they need (since February) to complete my audit and create my account. They sent it to a supervisor for escalation, not even sure what that means. They advised I call back in two weeks. So, I still wait. No worries, it takes the time it takes. I just wanted to offer a real timeline, as opposed to the 30 days stated by the paperwork I received from the Navy. Stay healthy and safe.

Hello John,

Although most of my former military peers who worked for DFAS have retired, I heard from one yesterday who said many of the employees are working from home.
Whether that affects how quickly certain documents are processed remains to be seen.

Good luck and thank you for your continuing assistance to other veterans.

Update to my timeline. Received two RAS's from DFAS yesterday. One dated June 1st showing my monthly retirement amount, minus SBP which I did not elect. The second one dated June 2nd showing no SBP. They said this is normal for non SBP election, so no need to freak out when you see the first one. I spoke with DFAS because there is no mention of retro pay. They stated that is still working, and could issue payment as soon as Friday or next week. I will keep you posted. Just wanted to keep the timeline updated. I found that helpful when others did it during the wait. Hang in there, stay blessed, safe, and healthy.

Last night I received a letter from DFAS with a temporary pass code and instructions on setting up a mypay account. I also received another RAS showing my Navy retirement pay reduced by my VA PA. So for sake of discussion, my Navy retirement pay is $1000, my VA pay is $500. I will only receive a total compensation of $1000, $500 from the VA (non taxable) and $500 from the Navy. Exactly as Ron describes. In all of the craziness, it is nice when things go as described.

Excellent report that should be helpful to others.

Final update. I received my first retirement check July 1st, however va monthly payment was still holding back half for severance. On August first received second monthly retirement check, VA monthly still with held severance. August 5th, VA paid the half it took out of monthly payment for severance for August. August 6th letter from VA saying DFAS was now handling remaining severance totaling X amount with seven pages of data supporting the total. August 7th receive Updated RAS, included Gross total minus money from VA I received for 14 years, minus x amount owed on severance. I was slightly worried the Gross total was way off. August 10th, new RAS showing a second Gross total minus a little more VA money, and taxes. In other words, there would be two payments. Received two back payments the last of which was yesterday. So, long story short, they split the back pay in two due to amount, I didn't panic or call DFAS yelling, I waited. I waited a weekend and it became clear. In the end, I recieved within $1500 of my estimate after taxes, and all is square zero issues, took some time but DFAS didnt' begin the calculation until mid June when they finally had all the information needed to do so. Within six weeks, it was all done. Just wanted to pass this along praying it helps others as they are still waiting answers, payments, etc.
