It is most commonly caused by rheumatoid arthritis, and so is rated under code 5099-5002, rheumatoid arthritis. It can, however, be rated on symptoms it causes in the eyes or throat if these symptoms are fairly severe.

Please help - %0 DOD for blood thinners - is the analogous code accurate?

DC 6817 pertains to the respiratory system. Would not be applicable to a coagulation disease. Anticoagulants are given for Pulmonary Vascular Disease because the veins are the issue, not a genetic mutation that causes the incorrect protein factors to be produced in the liver. Since your...

    Factor V

I believe the Navy standards for Factor V Leiden to considered a coagulation defect and permanently disqualifying. There is language about a waiver in the MANMED and it reads: History of deep venous thrombosis is disqualifying. Waivers may be considered for uncomplicated cases after completion...

Not likely. NAVY typically finds coagulation disabilities unfitting. There are quite a few discussion threads on here regarding Factor V.

    Diasbility Severenace Pay Tax Question

Technically it will be tax free, as long as the VA rates you for the same DC when your ratings get finalized. DFAS will be able to refund you since it is so early in the year. Contact DFAS after your ratings are finalized if they do not refund you automatically in 60 days or so after.

    100% P&T

“you are able to perform some type of work” is a common denial. They will look at your prior work history and toss out one of your prior occupations as a type of employment you can perform. Appeal the decision until you get an approval. Often it takes a ALJ to grant the SSDI.

Another ‘When Do I Get Paid’ Question

You gotta give the VA your DD214. One they get it they will process your post discharge claim. Your proposed ratings will be in turn, finalized. It typically takes 30-60 days. With the holidays, I would expect the latter.

Not Rated By DOD, 80% VA?? HELP

As I re-read this you are still in the PEB process? There was limited information. The Navy has a pretty big burden of proof to show that you had a condition that existed prior to service. If you have never received any mental health treatment prior to entering the service, just give the Navy...

    Deferred and Denied claims

The deferral for the claim of depression and anxiety is almost certain to be for a medical opinion regarding the diagnosis. You were probably given one diagnosis in service (they typically diagnose adjustment disorder) and the VA examiner gave you a new diagnosis. The VA rater probably asked...

You can apply for and receive SSDI while on active duty. I did and was granted it. I received SSDI and active duty pay together from January 1, 2010 to May 7, 2014. I filed for SSDI in October of 2009, which was when I was referred to the WTU after I returned from convalescent leave from...

I am 100% P&T (mental health), can I start work without concerning of a possible re-eval or reduction?

The logic is the law as it is written by Congress. The VA raters follow the law, and use the M21 manual as guidance on how the law is interpreted. The only time a rating is fully protected is if the Veteran is 55 years old, or if the condition has been rated for more than 20 years. (38 CFR...

Is there any way I can get a MEB initiated?

Talk to the ombudsman at the WTU. He/She should be able to assist you and ensure your legal rights are not violated. Do not let them REFRAD you without a MEB. This is how the process worked out for me. I was on AD orders (GWOT) and was injured ILOD. My PCM (neurosurgeon) referred me for MEB...

Welll, it is not rocket science and was a 10 second internet search to find the answer. Since your case went to the board, any decision would have had to come from the Secretary.
