DoD disability rating and its effect on SBP

DFAS finally wrote me back. If you're a medical retiree, your SBP is based on your DoD disability percentage, not your Time-in-Service. If I choose not to fight my PEB results, my DoD rating will decrease from 80% to 60%, which means the military retirement gross pay on my RAS will be reduced...

DoD disability rating and its effect on SBP

I was recently received the results of my MEB from the TDRL office. They are recommending a decrease in one of my rated conditions, which would take me from 80% DoD, down to 60% DoD. I had 21 years AD TIS and received 100% VA when I was placed on the TDRL, so the Office of Airmen Council...

100% PDRL, 100%S-1 VA, Over 20 years AFS

Ron, What would his RAS show for SBP cost in this scenario? It should be based off of item A and pay out $3236.47 to the spouse, right?

Appeal conditions or just add more?

Thank you for the input. I ended up getting impatient and decided to accept the results of the IPEB. I filed a follow up claim with my MSC for conditions that were discovered during my C&P exams. In addition to the new claims, I plan on asking the VA to split up the 60% rating...they combined...

    Calculating retirement pay

Hello everyone. I'm looking to verify my retirement pay with a medical retirement at 21 years active duty. The DFAS calculator doesn't seem to take in account CRDP and being over 20 years. Which of the following is correct assuming 80% DoD/90% VA, a High-3 pay of $4660, and no dependents...

Appeal conditions or just add more?

Hi Jason and all, I'm currently in the IPEB phase and was able to receive my proposed ratings from the VA. I was referred for 5 conditions for my MEB and claimed 20 conditions overall to the VA. Of those 20 conditions, 11 of them were found to be service related. My overall rating was 90%...

    Langley MEB Timeline

After a few delays in the process, I was able to get a hold of my VA ratings. Like others have said, the VA guy at Providence at (401) 223-3700 is awesome and faxed my ratings when others wouldn't. My VA rating was 90% rounded down from 93%. I'm happy with it, but the VA doctor at my C&P exam...
