    Navy PEB Investigation

I've heard rumors that some years back, someone did an investigation into the Navy PEB, and, of course, found it FUBAR. Then, like with all Navy investigations, it was put in a drawer and promptly forgotten. Does anyone know anything about this alleged investigation, or have a copy of it...

    MEB Status?

300--IMHO, you should slow down, take your doctor's advice and let the IDES process take its course, even if it means staying past your ETS. You now need to look at the long view of your life. It sounds like your conditions are severe enough to get a pretty decent rating towards your medical...

    Knee surgery and ratings?

All: The DoD regulations DO allow you to add conditions after the MEB. Whether the PEB will "honestly" consider them is a different matter entirely. When you go to your FPEB, your counsel will have you sign a "petition" that lists all of your unfitting conditions. If your unfitting condition...

Exhausted every resource pcm is worthless

Sean, it does NOT matter what this person or that person "says." You have to start being your own best advocate, because the "system" WILL let you down. I assure you, nobody cares about you more than you care about you. Both the Army and the VA would just prefer you go away: you'd save them a...

Exhausted every resource pcm is worthless

Sleep apnea may be "boardable," but it is rarely, if ever, "unfitting." The PEB will find you "fit" for sleep apnea and return you to duty, where you will be AdSepped for misconduct, failure to deploy, or personality disorder. Get the sleep apnea DBQ and read the sleep apnea VASRD to assess...

    Neurology vs. rheumatology fibro diagnosis

You have to have a rheumatologist diagnose this with a mental consult because fibromyalgia is a diagnosis of exclusion. Read the DBQ very carefully. If the rheumatologist doesn't mark the right boxes, the VA will say that your pain is a result of your depression and not fibromyalgia...

    P&T Proposed Ratings

While on TDRL, keep going to your doctor(s) and taking your meds. If you show up at your next PEB with no medical records to show continued treatment and medication, they WILL assume you're better and downgrade your rating. That's why you're on TDRL: they want another chance to reduce your rating.

Ides vs LDES for low rating

I've never heard of anyone getting a choice until seeing some posts on this forum. There is NOTHING in the governing regulations about having a choice. With that said, choose IDES every time.

Exhausted every resource pcm is worthless

What is a P2? P3? 40% is THE highest rating you'll receive from VA for fibromyalgia--that's the cap by law. If you apply for fibromyalgia, make sure you're seen by a rheumatologist. I think you also have to have a mental work-up. Get the fibro DBQ and read it. Traditionally, PEBs don't find...

    Legacy versus IDES

Didn't finish: DoDI 1332.18, August 5, 2014, Enclosure 3, para 1.c: Except for initial entry trainees, Military Academy cadets, and midshipmen entered into the LDES and catastrophically ill or injured Service members entered in the EDES, [The Secretaries of the Military Departments] will use...

    Legacy versus IDES

DoDI 1332.18, August 5, 2014, Enclosure 3, para 1.b (1): The Secretaries of the Military Departments : will use the LDES process for non-duty-related disability cases and for Service members who entered the DES prior to the IDES being implemented at a given MTF. There's nothing in the DoDI or...

    Legacy versus IDES

Mippy, according to the regulations, you don't have a choice. If someone is telling you do, they're misinformed. The LDES died circa 2008. EVERYBODY since then is required to be in IDES. (Except for EDES--not your case). IDES is far superior to LDES in so many ways. If (unlawfully)...

    Denied med board

Two pieces of advice: 1) Do NOT get into trouble for anything. Be 15 minutes early for work and every formation. Do NOT miss any appointments. Do not put yourself in any compromising positions. Why? The Army will AdSep you for misconduct, and your medical condition(s) will NOT save you. 2)...

    NARSUM issues!!

You shouldn't see anything in vets.gov about your NARSUM, IPEB, or FPEB: that's all DoD stuff. The only stuff you'll see in vets.gov is VA stuff. (Unless your service is dramatically different from the Navy.) The VA has nothing to do with fit or unfit.

    Preparation for FPEB

How the hell did they find me “FIT”? It's cheaper to find you fit, that's how. Other questions… Does this mean FPEB granted? You have the right to 1 FPEB before leaving active duty. Your PEBLO should be advising you when and where it is. You also have right to government counsel. You also...

    Formal PEB hearing vs. VA

DoDM 1332.18-V1, August 5, 2014 Para 10, Enclosure 4: 1.d. (2) The PEB will apply ratings for unfitting conditions provided by VA to establish the Service member’s disability rating under the IDES and EDES processes. If you have an unfitting condition, the PEB is supposed to use the VA rating...

On TDRL not sure what next

In the Navy/Marine Corps, we get a letter from the PEB at the Navy Yard. You MUST MUST MUST keep going to your doctor for treatment and taking your meds. If you show up at your PEB with no medical records showing continued care and medication, they WILL assume you're fine and drop your rating.
