To follow the trend, here it goes. Please post your status here and I will keep this list updated. Hopefully we'll all hear something back soon, but if the trend follows it will be 4-5 months or Jun-Aug timeframe. Edit: I'm also tracking Feb packages until someone else takes on that challenge!

MEB started in April 09 package sent 15 Nov 09 (multiple conditions) Still have not heard anything =(

My IPEB package was sent February 15, 2010. I didnt see a Feb posting so..... this was the closest! ;) LOL thanks for doing this! I'm looking at May/June I believe

Package sent to IPEB 11 March for Asthma. Migraines were mentioned but suspect will be found fitting. Expect package was received within a couple days of send date.(Whether or not it went to correct office/pile/desk...who knows...)

PEBLO said wait is approximately 20 weeks at this time. Since things with condition have changed (been on oral steroid for a month...which is not in package) and supposedly there is no way to get that added to package (Although I suspect there IS a way that the PEBLO just doesn't want to admit to....) depending upon determination may have to resend back for FPEB if I disagree with findings....

And to top it all off...commander not happy cuz I can't pass PT test as waist only....(Go figure eh?). If I fail 2 more times he wants to administratively demote me for failing....I'm thinking " If I could walk faster than 2 mph without coughing/wheezing It'd be easy to get skinny again...but dam drugs make me gain weight and you threatening to Demote me!!!!" Bah just hope the 20 weeks goes quick.

Try to get a letter from your PCM explaning to your commander that the medication that you are on will make you gain weight because it is a steroid and that you can't control that. If your commander still doesn't want to take what your PCM has to say I would go above his head.

Mine was sent up 22 Mar for compartment syndrome. if anyone knows anything about this condition and other's ratings please let me know!

MEB officially started 11 Aug 2009
IPEB official results 11 Mar 2010
Accepted findings not going further

Pkg was sent from MEB (local medical board) down to AFPC 12 Jan 2010. The form from the IPEB was signed 10 FEB 2010. I was notified of the decision 11 March 2010. Seems pretty darn quick for IPEB decision. I was put through under the DOD VA Pilot program but still my timeline is really fast from MEB to IPEB decision.

Yingyang,
When did your package reach AFPC/IPEB?

Are you a wounded warrior? Those cases get priority or maybe the it has something to do with the pilot program...

Nate

Yingyang,

My package was also sent on 12 Jan. 2010. You had a really quick turn around. What was your condition and findings by the IPEB? I'm in the DES pilot program as well.

Nate, Not a wounded warrior, God Bless those who are. I definitely believe they deserve to have their cases resolved the quickest.

Guam (been there...loved the tour)
Anyway, IPEB found 40% permanent medical retirement. Conditions were all back problems i.e. spondy, DDG, disc herniations...I did not repeat did not undergo surgery...ortho stated not a candidate because of the spondy/arthritis.

Nate

I loss my hearing in combat 5 years ago. My package was just submitted...... Am I considered a wounded warrior as far as MEB's go? My MEB package has combat related/in the line of duty.

I've been in contact with the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program at Randolph. My case manager down there told me "they [AFPC] are 1300 cases behind". Which is why you are seeing a 4-5 month wait. He also told me that the wounded warrior cases were being pushed.

USAFTACP...I can't say anything about what they use as "wounded warrior"criteria. I've already found way too many inconsitancies within the AF about combat injury care. :(

MHO is that if the primary reason (reffering condition) is combat related...I would hope they would catagorize you in the wounded warrior class. I just don't know anything for sure....

1300?!! WOW!!

Thanks for the bit of information. The Air Force is confused in every aspect in what they consider "combat".

Yingyang,
Congratulations on the results. How many years do you have in he AF? I'm asking because I'm wondering if they took your years of service into consideration. I'm going on 19 and I'm also going through a IPEB for DDG, disc herniations and several other back issues, however I did have a fusion at L4-S1. I hoping for a medical retirement. We'll see. I wish you well.

LOL. I understand. One of the driving factors in my decision not to seek a RTD is the lack of adequate medical care or even basic understanding for those that are injured in combat. When I got back from Iraq the battle with my own service was almost as bad as the one against the insurgents in Baghdad.
