Condition that initiated the IDES process has been resolved

I was originally sent to the IDES process after being given a permanent profile for "depressive disorder". In the last few months, my providers (civilian because ARNG) realized that I had been misdiagnosed all along and resolved the "depressive disorder" diagnosis. Instead, I was given a diagnosis of OCD and it is very well managed now.

After speaking with my assigned legal counsel, it was recommended that I request my profile be reviewed and potentially dropped to a P2, prior to going to the IPEB. I have turned in a DA 7809 along with a treatment letter from my provider (recommending a profile review and explaining the new diagnosis), to my case manager at the state level.

What happens when a diagnosis gets changed like this? Do I have to start the process over again? Can I really be discharged for failing to manage a condition that it turns out - I never had?

You stated your condition is very well managed. Your profile is now a P2. Do you want to continue to serve in the ARNG? Do you have any prior or pending issues that would cause NGB to release you from duty? Based on the information provided, I do not see NGB releasing you because of a P2 profile that is well managed.

Now that I have gotten an accurate diagnosis and know how to treat it, yes it is well managed. Previously, they were just throwing meds at me that were actually making the OCD worse. So it appeared as if I was unable to manage the "depressive disorder". I do not have a P2 profile yet. I am still trying to fight for that but am unsure how to go about it other than submitting the recommendations of my civilian providers. It is currently a P3 profile for "depressive disorder" that prohibits me from deploying or carrying a weapon.

I want to be found fit. I am only 4 years into my 6 year contract and had intentions on reenlisting. Just not sure how realistic it is to consider staying in a possibility? Other than this PEB, I have no other prior or pending issues.

Thank you for emphasizing you still have a P3. I misread your statement. Your legal team has provided good guidance for you to request a P2 or no profile. You have a medical provider and medical notes to support your case. Have you discussed your situation with your chain of command? Are they supporting you? Others on this site with more experience in this area will assist you with a path forward.

No worries, I wish I only had a P2 haha. My CoC is supportive and my commander has written a commander's impact statement saying that I am capable of continuing service and that the only reason I have any restrictions to work with, is due to the restrictions placed on me by the P3 profile.
