Ballpark figures:
  1. 3233 presented as high three
  2. 3233 x 0.70 DoD = about 2263 retired pay from DoD
  3. All retired pay is waived by VA comp, amount unk, since dependents not cited, but it is >= 3000...no residual left
  4. 17 AD x 0.025 = 42.5% multiplier
  5. 3233 x 0.425 = 1374 dollar amount of longevity portion of retirement pay
  6. CRSC @ 70%, dependents unk = $1,403.71 without spouse or children
7. Item 5 is less than item 6 = 1374 CRSC payable (based on info you provided )

Rounding used.

I completely forgot the dependent info. Married with 3 children, thank you again I truly appreciate your help so much

No problem, but thank you for your reply. The rate for “veteran alone” was higher than the longevity portion of retired pay; therefore, the addition of dependents does not change the CRSC payable.

Hello,

A. 3643.25 x 30% = 1092.98 DoD percentage rate
B. 14.083 years x 2.5% = 35.2%
C. 3643.25 x 35.2% = 1282.42 dollar amount of longevity and higher than item A. Item C is the retired pay.
D. 1282.42 retired pay is reduced by amount of VA compensation = zero retired pay
E. CRSC @ 30%, spouse and 3 children under 18 = $516.83 + $50 = $566.83
F. E is less than C so CRSC is $566.83

3. DOD 50%
4. CRSC 40%

6. Married 1 child
Hello again and congrats!

A. 5090 x 0.50 = 2545 retired pay
B. VA comp 80%, spouse & 1 child under 18 = 1867.69
C. 2545 minus 1867.69 = 677.31 residual retired pay
D. 11.333 yrs AD x 0.025 = 28.33% multiplier
E. 5090 x 0.2833 = 1442 dollar amount of longevity portion of retirement pay
F. 40% CRSC = 735.73
G. Item F is less than item e. CRSC = 735.73
H. DFAS each month 677.31 + 735.73 = 1413.04

Reference: DoD 7000.14-R Financial Management Regulation Volume 7B, Chapter 63

“Members retired for disability under 10 U.S.C., Chapter 61, with less than 20 years of creditable service computed under 10 U.S.C. § 1208, and who are qualified for CRSC, on or after January 1, 2013, will have the maximum CRSC payment restrictions. The CRSC payment amount, which when combined with any remaining retired pay after VA offset, will not exceed the amount that is equal to 21⁄2 percent of the member’s years of creditable service multiplied by the member’s retired pay base under 10 U.S.C. § 1406(b)(1) or 10 U.S.C. § 1407, whichever is applicable to the member.”

Let me know how this turns out.

Good seeing you again.

Ron

Thanks Ron, I really appreciate you. I am always lurking on the forum. Lol

I always enjoy seeing you... I used to see you at VBN too.

Ron

Same here Ron. I am constantly back and forth between both forums reading the threads. It amazes me how you guys are well versed in the DFAS/VA.
