Hello @shaykb1013

1. 1530/40% = 3825 high three
2. 14.416 AD x 2.5% = 36.04% longevity multiplier
3. retired pay of 1530 reduced to zero by 1819 VA comp amount.
4. 3825 x 36.04% = 1378.53 longevity portion of retired pay
5. CRSC @ 40% with spouse = 705.77 which is less than amount at item 4
6. CRSC = 705.77 based on the info you provided

Ron,

I noticed that the amount you said i should be getting is more than I'm actually receiving. I have been receiving $605 a month and not $705. Do I need to submit something to be paid with a dependent? Are they only paying me at the single rate?

Thanks for your help!

From VA compensation tables:
With spouse (no parents or children) 705.77

If you were receiving the longevity amount of your retired pay as CRSC, I would offer than some feature of the computation or the info provided was flawed. However, since you are paid the amount for the CRSC percentage approved, it comes directly from the VA compensation tables. Does your CRSC statement show a deduction for SBP or other deduction?

The "veteran alone" rate for 40% is: 635.77 so it is unlikely the spouse is not included.

I just logged on and there is zero deductions coming out. Also a zero debt balance. Do you think I need to call dfas?

First, please review the following info I was provided to ensure it is accurate:
-- gross retired pay from the DFAS RAS $1530
--I was approved for 40% DOD in my medical retirements.
-- I have 14 years 5 months of active duty
--I receive 80% VA with is $1819 with spouse no kids
--Approved 40% CRSC-- wife
--I don’t qualify for any other retirement and I did not transition to the Blended Retirement System.

Your info is likely correct; however, the most common flaw in the reporting of the info for the estimate is the ACTIVE DUTY OR ACTIVE DUTY EQUIVALENT. Your retirement orders should have that information on the first page, 3/4 down, under: "Disability Retirement."

Do you orders show: 14 years 5 months of active duty ?

I went over the computation again and it seems solid.

Yes that looks correct. The only thing that has changed is I'm now 90% VA.

That would not change your computation. Did you have a chance to review your retirement orders?

The amount you cited for 40% CRSC does not fit .

Can you compute mine.....???
-- gross retired pay from the DFAS RAS $888.09
--I was approved for 40% DOD in my medical retirements. (lumbar back and radiculopothy)
-- my Disability retirement: 06 Year(s), 01 Month(s), 06 Day(s), it says on orders my Basic Pay: 13 Year(s), 04 Month(s), 09 Day(s)
--I receive 70% VA with is $1717 with spouse two kids (this may go up to 90%)
--Approved 40% CRSC per my SF199. although the VA has added secondary conditions to my back like insomnia and sciatica since the DOD did there paperwork. So i may be 70-80% CRSC as there was an LOD filed)
--I don’t qualify for any other retirement and I did not transition to the Blended Retirement System.

In February you mentioned:

-- gross retired pay from the DFAS RAS $1530
--I was approved for 40% DOD in my medical retirements.
-- I have 14 years 5 months of active duty
--I receive 80% VA with is $1819 with souse no kids
--Approved 30% CRSC-- wife

Did you receive an increase in CRSC from 30% to 40%?

The 30% rate, veteran with spouse: 493.35

Another case has jumped into your thread. It confuses matters.

If I have interpreted your situation correctly, you should receive the amount I originally cited. Recommend you give DFAS a call and request an audit/expalanation. Actually, it would be better to request the audit via message or letter.

Hello,

I can compute your CRSC an hour or so from now. I have a commitment with my son at this time. From the initial info you provided, you will likely receive the longevity portion of your retired pay as CRSC. I can't say for sure since you do not have an exact CRSC percentage approved by your service, notwithstanding the SF199.

No problem...it happens all the time. It was confusing because your post arrived in the middle of a discussion. I will look for your other post.
