Case.

Would you mind doing a CRSC computation for me. Thank you.

My hi-3 is $4000
Military disability is 70%
VA is 70%
CRSC is 70%
19.5 yrs Active duty
Married w/Spouse only

Estimate:

1. 4000 x 0.70 = 2800 retired pay
2. 2000 minus 1,522.71 VA comp at 70% = 477.29 residual retired pay
3. 19.5 AD years x 0.025 = 48.75% longevity multiplier
4. 4000 x 0.4875 = 1950 longevity portion of retired pay
5. 70% CRSC = 1522.71
6. 1950 longevity minus 477.29 residual = 1472.71 maximum CRSC

DFAS pays each month:
--477.29 residual
--1472.71 CRSC
TOTAL: 1950 based on the info you provided.

edited to add....by law:
a. CRSC cannot exceed the amount of the VA offset (i.e.,the reduction of retired pay in the amount of VA compensation received).

b. CRSC cannot exceed the amount of the dollar amount of the longevity portion of retired pay

c. CRDC cannot exceed the amount of the value of the CRSC percentage approved by the service concerned. (VA compensation tables are used for the amounts).

d. In cases such as this (CH 61 retiree with less than 20 years AD), the combination of CRSC and residual retired pay cannot exceed the dollar amount of the longevity portion of retired pay.

Comment.
