1. My high three average is $3515 (back of napkin math)

2. My DoD disability rating is 50%

3. My active duty time is 8 years and 7 months

4. VA compensation: 100% / 3,823.89 / 1 Spouse

5. 50% (estimate from 199) .. My DOD rating is two injuries relating to combat overseas with V1 indicators.

6. No, I do not qualify for anything else

7. I did opt into the BRS. Kicking myself now, but at the time, I didn't think I would be staying in.

Should I hire someone to help me file for CRSC? Or is it a waste of money?

I will provide an estimate, but please provide the following:

1. What is the gross amount of retired pay on your DFAS RAS (found on MyPay)?
2. What are the years and months on your retirement orders 3/4 down on page one, under DISABILITY RETIREMENT? (for Army retirees)

Comment: Actually, an opinion. I think it is a waste of money to hire someone to fill out a CRSC application. I have done several myself and none took more than30 minutes. However, most were related to Agent Orange.

Ron,

Thanks for getting back so quickly. I just received my da 199 and do not have those available for you yet. I based my high 3 and time in service on separating from active duty 30 days from today.

Hello @kjohn1011

Estimate based on your info:

a. 8.583 Active duty x 2% (blended) = 17.16% longevity multiplier
b. 3515 x17.16% = 603.17 longevity portion of retirement a CRSC ceiling and your likely payment amount
c. Amount at item B is much less than 50% CRSC which is around 1,141.82

Based on the info you provided, your CRSC will be: ~603
