Hello all I was just approved for my CRSC after 2 years of waiting, my approval date was 11 October. I was curious if anyone knew how long it took them from approval date to pay/retro pay? Also I was wondering if someone could calculate it for me? High 3 3200, 10 years 8 months E-6, 60% CRSC 90% VA with a wife and a child.

You almost exactly the same as I am I got approved 26th of September for 70% crsc , 90% VA Jan 1st 2018 and 30% from Army peb board right at 10 years and E6. I contacted dfas and they said it’ll take 30-60 days to do the paperwork. As of today still nothing in my dads account. The calculator is extremely confusing to me all I can say is be patient as there not in any rush I’m sure.

1. 3200 x 50% = 1600 gross retired pay
2. 90% VA COMP spouse & child = $2,041.68 results in all retired pay waived.
3. 10.67 yrs x 2.5% = 26.67%
4. 3200 x 26.67 = 853.44 longevity portion of retirement
5. CRSC rate @ 60% = 1,255.52
6. Item 4 is less than item 5.

The range for retro payment of CRSC is 1-6 months in most cases.

CRSC = ~853.44 per month

Thanks Ron my numbers will be really close to Wbase21 between 600-900 rough estimate. I have 2175 from VA extra 100 for being completely blind in one eye.... crazy it’s only 30% for being blind in one eye. Appreciate your estimate.

Hello I was curious what the difference would be when I get an increase to 100% va which would be 100% crsc did 70 did High 3 3200, 10 years 8 months E-6

It would not increase the CRSC payable in your case.

You are receiving the dollar amount of your longevity portion of retirement pay because it is less than the 60% previously approved.
A 100% CRSC approval is a higher rate and far exceeds the longevity portion of retirement pay. In other words, you are receiving the maximum in your case. The only CRSC increases you will receive in the future will be due to COLA increases.

Ok thanks ron
It was a good question. Many have asked the same.
CRSC for Chapter 61 retirees is a more complex computation than that for a regular retiree.
