EAS being 99999....and extension

Hello everyone,
I am hoping I could gain some clear insight on my situation. I have passed my original EAS date and it has been 999999 out for many months now since I have been on the medical board. The 1Sgt at my unit is trying to get me I need to sign a 6 month extension to have a new EAS established per a new MCO but was never shown proof that this is true. I have not received any results back from the PEB yet but have been told it will be any day now for the past two months.

If this MCO is true does it only apply to the Marines that are going to be in a situationwhere they will go past EAS and instead of getting 9999out they have to voluntarily extend?
Or all marines that are 99999out have to now extend ?

Something seems off to meabout signing an extension.

Would the 1Sgt know if Igetting a “fit” determinationfrom the board and he is trying to be me to stay longer ?

I would greatly appreciatesome guidance.

I had to do a voluntary extension because my EAS is in November. It hasn't been processed yet, but the Marine Corps can't do an involuntary med hold anymore under the new MCO. The extension won't mean anything in the long run if you are found unfit because you will get a new EAS anyway.

Thank you very much for replying.
I have been with a 9999 EAS for about 7 months already and now they want me to extend.
I was wondering if I am grandfathered in because I definitely don’t want to take a chance signing an extension (like they are telling me I have to) and have the off chance that I maybe found fit in the next few day and then stuck with a far away EAS.

Yeah man, you gotta extend or at least acknowledge your extension. That will change as soon as your meb results come back.
