Hopefully there are still a few around that have gotten out recently. I am curious how long it is taking people to get their final pay check after discharge?
I got out April 25th. My Final Pay went into audit on May 14th and I'm still waiting. DFAS mentioned it was expected to take right at 120 days from the commencement of the final audit, so September for me.
My claim was closed and it says I was paid on 01JUN2025 on the VA decision letter but I was not paid by DOD or the VA. Will this be back pay that i recieve 01JUL? My last pay from the Goverment was 31MAY. Sorry if this is a stupid questionA
This is the list I received from admin:
- Approved separation/retirement orders
- Approved terminal leave chit
- Copy of your VMET and JST
- Copy of your TAPS completion cert with seal (DD Form 2648)
- Separation FITREP (required for separations only)
- Completed Check-Out Sheet
- Completed 1900/1
- Completed NPPSC 4650 (if you plan on flying)
- Completed DD2656
- Completed NPPSC 7000-1
After I turned all these in, someone contacted me about info for my DD214 about 2 weeks later.
Update to my final pay: I called DFAS and verified that they received the retirement/separation worksheet from TSC Norfolk. They didn't, so I had to open up a MNCC ticket by calling 833-330-6622 in order to get TSC Norfolk to do their job.

It's been a while, and a few MNCC tickets, but I finally figured it out after getting on the phone with a DFAS supervisor.
I actually received sold leave+final paycheck on 24APR25. What they didn't include was the pro-rated bonus for the partial year. I opened a MNCC ticket, included the instruction number that authorized the partial year bonus, and MNCC sent it to TSC. I verified yesterday the ticket is with PERS-42 to validate the information and send it back to TSC Norfolk.
Doing a post-mortem on why the process failed, I asked if there was any reason why TSC Norfolk would ask PERS if a bonus was owed, and there wasn't, so that sounds like a hole in their process.
To summarize: If you're owed a partial year bonus, and your numbers aren't adding up, open a MNCC ticket, include the instruction number which authorized the bonus (in my case OPNAVINST 7220.1K), and submit it to TSC Norfolk.
