I have a question for y'all, does/has anyone of y'all have an uncooperative chain of command when it comes to this medboard stuff? I hope I'm not the only soldier that has a commander that wrote up a commander's statement (7652 form) that resulted to be contradictory to my medical history and claims. The attorney asked my commander to rewrite the commander statement so that it fits with my medboard packet, but my chain of command blatantly refused to, all because I "used the medboard to get out of JRTC." So as you can see I have no support from my unit when it comes to my health. Anyone in the same boat?

Unfortunately there’s evil people out there wearing the uniform who has authority over you and takes the chance to use it against you. I would try to talk to the PEBLO to see if you can continue without the commander’s statement which is a thing. This is what my PEBLO was going to have me do because my commander was so busy at the time that I had to literally follow him reminding him to do the statement. Took about three weeks for him to finally do it. But.. if you want a statement to help the PEB find you unfit, the battalion commander could write a commander statement.

Hello everyone,

PEBLO has finally sent up my packet to San Antonio as of yesterday after getting a response to the IMR. Everything that my attorney wrote up has been accepted. Now just waiting the 10 days for my unfit memo.

Is it true that the VA is not backlogged anymore? Or is that just rumors?

you may or may not get a memo, I have yet to receive anything from the PEB. I have received my NARSUM and it has the MEB results that state what my unfitting conditions are, however the PEB gets the final say. Hang tight and keep your head up

I’m over 60 days waiting on the VA. Prepare for 80days or so. Seems like that’s the average recently...

I’m assuming the VA required clarification?
Went up for ratings 14 February (after dependents added) 8 May was sent from prep for decision to review of evidence, 22 May was sent to gathering evidence (clarifying back injury) 8 May was the first real progress I’ve seen on the case since february

That’s nuts.

If I keep getting blown off by my MSC and Peblo (they have blown me off every time I ask) after 75days I’m contacting my senators office.

You’re case seems to have complications as most are getting there’s back in around 70 days.

I’m hoping for the same...

I mean your PEBLO and MSC have nothing to do with the ratings process... so there isn’t much they can do for it except wait

They are able to do more then say “Call next month”or just hang up.

The MSC can see how many cases are in front of yours.

Mine just keep telling me “Call back in a month if you don’t hear back”.

I have no idea what’s next. I just started SFL myself as I had no idea I was supposed to have already completed it...

I was told 30 days at most. If I would have know this I would have been able to attend a longer career skills program.

Now I’m stuck doing SFL and hoping I can get my CDL before I have to clear because until my commander told me I had 0 idea I was able to do SFL.

I fact I was told to wait until after I got my orders by my Peblo...

And they are not required to do any of those things for you honestly, some are different than others but mine do the same thing as yours do, so I’m just collecting my paycheck, taking as many free classes as I can, and making about 100 appointments a month.

Appointments for what?

I was able to skate by and apply for jobs and attempt to prepare for my separation.

But it’s been almost 6months of dealing with this now and my CoC is getting fed up.

All my potential employers had to fill the positions.

I am now frantically trying to finish SFL and Clear CIF so I can attempt to squeeze a school in.

All of this is because I was flat out misinformed about everything.

When I was recommended in November I didn’t see a Peblo until January. It’s been 8 months now and I could have been doing some amazing classes with SFL.

Instead I sat at work with a Permanent profile.

Now that I am finally close (I sure hope). I am frantically trying to take advantage of all these awesome programs I had 0 idea I was entitled to the entire time...

I was told I should of been home in March...

That is most unfortunate to be fair I had to contact an OMBUDSMAN and I researched the whole process before I even began it which is how I knew to contact an OMBUDSMAN to begin the case. The programs I was informed of right away by the MSC and my PEBLO. It is frustrating and I understand, believe me I began in November as well, the 9th of November is when I initially met with my PEBLO and MSC

I remember thinking the Government Shutdown was going to postpone me a few days maybe weeks.

I didn’t realize it was going to keep me in for MONTHS haha.

Atleast I can go to CDL school and get paid to do it.

Are you getting Medically Retired? My lawyer assured me I would be or he would easily be able to fight it. I was curious how that effects the timeline.

I have 0 idea what happens after I get my %. My Peblo said I meet my lawyer that week and get my orders.

But I am not naive enough to believe I will get orders the same week. Not to mention I have no idea how far out the orders will be OR how terminal leave and retirement TDY works...

I have no idea to be honest, i don't assume I will be retired however that's why we are waiting, for our ratings. After the ratings are proposed by the VA it is then sent back to the PEB where they create your 199 and assign your V codes and determine whether you will be medically retired or separated and what benefits you will recieve. The case is then forwarded to your PEB for you to accept or rebut.

hang tough, there isn't much we can do other than just accept it for what it is...I have been in the Army long enough to know hurry up and wait.

I should smoke myself for being so naive to assume this process would be anything but painful.

On a positive I have gotten great and free treatment for my Crohn’s disease and I’m getting paid.

Got to drink that Kool Aide a few more months haha

I’m also getting married August 10th and have a Honeymoon after.

I pray I will be on leave by then...
