So just awaiting proposed ratings (DA 199) and PEB final determination. PEBLO stated that most "I concurs" are basically decided quickly at the PEB and retirement orders are cut in 4-6 weeks or less as they have been processing soldiers out really quickly.

If anyone has questions on anything I can help. Hope this helps anyone with an updated timeline for NG.

Thanks for the timeline! My case (guard too) just got referred to Fort Eisenhower and my PEBLO reached out today for the first time. Any lessons learned/advice to share?

@Nelson68w:

Welcome to the process! I hope everything goes well at Fort Eisenhower. Stay engaged. Review medical records. Highlight disabilities and symptoms. Identify and compare disabilities with MSC. Write narratives for each disability before meeting VA examiners. Review public DBQs at VA.gov. Take notes during IDES briefing. Ask PEBLO and MSC questions and demand answers. Review DoDI 1332.18, AR 635-40, AR 40-501, and 38 CFR Part 4. Continue process until you are satisfied with final results.

No worries, still waiting on the PEB Findings and Proposed Ratings. Let's hope it's close. Review your referred condition and the DBQ Part A Self Assessment and what you listed down as additional problems. Your PEBLO will give you a medical packet with all your STRs and all your medical documents that got you referred to IDES, make sure it's all complete. You'll go through a counseling check list. A lot of is outdated so most of your accurate timeline and information will come from your PEBLO. Timeline varies. For my VA appointments I was assigned to QTC - they were easy to work with and the examiners were very fair. The MSC if they don't see something you claim in your records they will try to not add it to your claim just try to let them know your claiming it anyway.

Any movement on your case? Still waiting on the VA for proposed ratings?

Still waiting, getting impatient but since 4th of July Holiday, Juneteeth, and people taking leave during this time period I think I should have something next week or before the end of the Month, they have a required timeframe to finish a certain portion i.e. IPEB and DRAS ratings from what I'm being told. But yep, still nothing, I'll update timeline once I get my DA199.

Thanks for the update. Don’t mean to bug you, but I’m a couple months behind you so I’m using you as an indicator of what to expect.

This week would be 6 weeks from Narsum being sent up. Let's hope I see something this week or next week. As of today 5PM EST 7/15. No updates or changes. I'm seeing some people get their DA 199 in less than 4 weeks with more claims than me. It's nerve racking.

Does the VA app/website show any claims either open or closed?

The VA App has all my claims in one claim showing step 3 preparing for decision it was sent in April 12 and has been stuck in PFD since May 16 and no movements since then or any changes.

I was told someone dropped the ball at the MTF and the PEB did not accept my DA Form 3947 & Narsum until July 11 which means it was just sitting for 5 weeks for no reason. This puts this extends the timeline even further now...

Holy shit, your head’s gotta be exploding over this! It wouldn’t be the Army if they weren’t fucking you over.

LOL, we've been in long enough to know, this is what was to be expected. Ain't no Army happy endings or things happening on time. All service programs need to act "busy" to prevent getting manhours cut and/or consolidated with a different manpower unit.

Have you checked the VA to see if your claim exists, and if so is it showing open or closed?

Ensure you got a good legal from OSC. Mine was phenomenal, she got back to me right away, set up appointments asap. Eisenhower was NOT good, had to go thru paralegal, they gave you a ghost phone where no one picked up while your under the gun of deadlines. Be proactive.

1. KNOW what in your MEDICAL records
2. KNOW the questions before the test, read the APPROPRIATE DBQ. If you have to do ROM (eg back degrees) make sure the examiner doesn’t say, “couldn’t test due to pain” otherwise VA rating will be 10%
3. Treat the process like a deployment, READ everything you can, ask question, then ask the question again here.

MOST IMPORTANT READ!!
Army Regulation 635 – 40
Personnel Separations Disability
Evaluation for Retention, Retirement, orSeparation

Just finished. Army took care of me, full benefits

I might add consider hiring a private attorney. Not everyone has good free legal representation and not all of us are smart enough to learn all the ins and outs of the process.

Had a buddy of mine who was the process in parallel with me for same conditions and similar medical records. He had a hard time even talking to Eisenhower attorney and when we finally shook the tree and got one, the counsel was not very good. As a point of comparison my attorney froM Atterbury went thru my Narsum and DBQs line by line. His attorney did not even offer to do that for him. Result=PEB. severance

Most cases are through major duty stations where the ratio between cases and assigned free legal is so huge that there is no way they can give the time and effort afforded to each Soldier. The thing that surprised me the most was that the free legal for IDES JAG won't do the actual work. They give you advice and then you try to write it up and then they just look it over and correct any issues. That sounds super stressful! My wife's attorney did all of the work. So at each stage she just sent off the results to her attorney and then her attorney wrote up a rebuttal or whatever the challenge was and she signed it and sent it to her PEBLO.
