In the process of MEB and got in trouble

Recently i got pulled over for a class 2 misdemeanor. I was clocked outside of base because I was rushing to get into a trauma hospital inside of base. Not thinking about the action of my own and the potential of harming others on the road. I felt ashamed of myself instantly and was not happy at all of what I did. I did not get arrested as the PD understood my position but also told me that just because you are going somewhere important doesn’t give you the right to do so. Not only are you a danger to yourself but also others. He let me off but I do have a court hearing.

Again I am not proud of what I did and please everyone don’t speed even if it’s urgent. It’s not worth it because in the end you need to be safe and make sure others are safe around you.

My question to this since I am on MED Board process. Will it stop immediately and I’ll be automatically be put on separation or is there a way I can still go through with this?

Hire an attorney and try to get it knocked down to a non misdemeanor such as a regular traffic ticket. Explain to the lawyer the situation so they can use that information to negotiate with the prosecutor. A disabled active duty military soldier currently in the integrated disability evaluation system that was rushing to the hospital should lend you some compassion. If you can get it down to a regular traffic ticket which I think is very possible then it shouldn't in itself cause to much trouble. If you have other infractions this may just be the instance that puts your situation over the top where they try to admin separate you. If they try to though you would still go through IDES and then the higher ups decide your fate between admin seperation or medical retirement/medical separation.

One note: years ago my wife got a ticket while in school in Virginia. It was off base in Petersburg outside of Fort Lee or whatever they call it now. (I personally hate that they changed the base names.). Anyway, I hired an attorney and he was able to get the ticket knocked down to a non moving violation. The military never knew about it because it turned into a parking ticket basically. She ended up paying the same amount for the non moving violation as what the ticket cost and we had to pay for the attorney on top but it helped her avoid getting a notification to her unit or hurting her record which would affect our insurance rates. I doubt you can get it down all the way to a non moving violation but that would be the ultimate goal. If that's unachievable then it would be to get it knocked down from a misdemeanor to regular traffic ticket.

@Provis, gave you great advice.

Thank you for this. It gives me hope that I am able to knock this down to a speeding ticket I only had one speeding ticket and that was 2-3 years ago and this one I did recently was stupid of me I don’t know why I did it I just needed to get to the hospital because its where I work and it was an emergency. Glad the cop stopped me because I would have kept going and not realize what I did and could have killed someone or myself. For that I’m grateful but hopefully my attorney I just hired today helps me out put it down to at least a speeding ticket.
