MEB: Fit for Duty - P3 profile - No Weapons and Non-Deployable

Thank you for the advice. Since it has been a couple of weeks now, I do wish that I was more assertive on correcting my NARSUM. I didn’t realize that one of my claimed conditions (not referred) which had positive findings in the DBQ during the C&P is not even on my NARSUM. I definitely should have looked closely and took more time to review it. I was just too content that they added more unfitting conditions. Looking back, I should have used an IMR…

I guess my next step is to wait the proposed ratings and submit a VARR accordingly.

I am looking at your history and wasn’t able to find your info about your PEB. How long did your PEB portion take? I know on your prior message you said you are close to the end.
Just a FYI in case you didn't know. You can only request a VARR on conditions found unfit by the iPEB or FPEB. When I read your post I wasn't sure if you were talking about an unfitting condition or not but its a common misconception for Soldiers so I though I would bring it up. If you have a rating that is too low that isn't unfitting you can appeal it with the VA after you get out.

Thank you for clarifying this. I was tracking that but I definitely didn’t clearly articulate it.

Regarding conditions that I claimed with the VA/MSC but was not included in the NARSUM. Meaning, I had it during my C&P and annotated on its respective DBQ but it just happened to be NOT in my NARSUM. Is there still a chance for it to be in included in my proposed ratings/ DA 199? Or is it something I just have to bring up afterwards when I am out / exit interview with the MSC ?

Its pretty strange it isn't listed in your NARSUM. Normally all conditions are listed and for each condition they state fit or unfit and state their case for each decision to include meeting or not meeting the medical standards.

I would login to VA.gov and make sure its listed as a condition claimed with the VA.

Also, its too late as you know to contest the NARSUM but after you get the Informal PEB ruling you can request a Formal PEB where you can argue that a condition should be unfit instead of fit. VARR is to challenge ratings % for unfit conditions. FPEB is to challenge whether a condition is fit or not, whether a condition is combat related or not etc.

Thanks. VA.gov will be blank since I am in IDES but I did see it listed in the VA Form 21-526-EZ

I see. Hopefully I don’t have to do an FPEB. I am good with the fit or not in the NARSUM and hopefully they coded the combat related ones since it stated clearly on records and it seems to be pretty straightforward for the ones that are.

I am confused. IDES is the integrated system that utilizes the VA. Why would you not see the claim on VA.GOV? My wife saw hers there when she did the process. All the conditions were lumped into one claim and they were all listed. That is where you can see what conditions you are claiming with the VA.

Hopefully, with enough other conditions listed and the likelihood of the PTSD rating, you will probably max out your DoD ratings even with a couple missed items. Remember for the future that challenging the DoD PEB findings are different than the VA via VARR.

I have not listed my history as it is highly unusual. It's been many years for me to get through this process and I'm actually months into the end finally. I'll let ya know when the PEB actually completes for me.

(Wrote this reply before seeing all the other messages populate)

For about 10 months none of mine were showing on VA.gov either. It actually wasn't until I called the 1000 number and had a discussion with them about some missing evidence. The next day it all appeared on the site. I really was not concerned prior to that as I was claiming IDES for DoD purposes only.
What gets even stranger is that the VA later added a ton of items I nor my unit claimed. It baffled my lawyer. So now it appears I may be getting a VA review anyways. We will see....

Right. From what was explained to me, I am technically not a veteran yet. As far as I know, SMs who are going through the IDES will have certain information not populate on the VA website/app until we are out.

My information was a couple years old but during my time the VA would open a claim once in IDES. That claim was for everything. Once found unfit they would open a new claim and everything would be copied over to it so that it could be finalized after the VA received your DD214.

I believe he is referencing the difference between being in LDES vs IDES. Not about whether one is yet a veteran.

I think I am wrong then. I just called this number 1800 number and they opened up a ticket for me. I will post an update here for others.

First. Thank you all for helping me on this thread. You all were very helpful.

I received my DA 199 and officially was found unfit. I am just posting this just in case if anyone has a similar situation to me and is looking for some info like I was.

Also. Regarding the VA website and app not showing anything except when after the ratings are proposed, as expected, the trouble ticket didn’t help at all and I was told by MSC that this is how it is right now for everyone.

Also, to follow up on this one, it still showed up on my VA proposed ratings even though it was not on my NARSUM.
