MEB/PEB Timeline w/ VARR

My timeline is below! I am an AD USAF O-3 with Crohn's Disease and a loop ileostomy.

8 Apr 2024 - Initial Review In Lieu Of (IRILO) Medical Board
3 May 2024 - Returned to duty
~Lots of health battles starting in September 2024~
25 Feb 2025 - Continuation of Military Medical Observation and Care (CONCARE) for 3 months
27 May 2025 - Full Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) directed -- SHA DBQ and DES acknowledgment completed and returned to PEBLO
18 June 2025 - Last C&P exam
21 July 2025 - Local (informal) MEB completed -- Referred to IPEB
26 Aug 2025 - IPEB Findings: Unfit--Discharge with Severance Pay @ 0% DOD/100% VA -- Contacted Office of Disability Counsel (ODC) - Lamented about my rating bc WTF.
2 Sept 2025 - Requested FPEB and began gathering documentation to support a VA Rating Reconsideration (VARR)
5 Sept 2025 - Hearing scheduled for 19 Sept
12 Sept 2025 - FPEB President informed my attorney that the VA had found a "clear and unmistakable error" in my rating. Rated 60% for Crohn's.
23 Sept 2025 - Received updated rating/findings: Unfit--Permanent Retirement @ 60% DoD/100% VA
29 Set 2025 - Accepted findings, requested VARR (all submitted by my attorney at the ODC)
1 Oct 2025 - Lapse in Appropriations (Government Shutdown :[ )
3 Oct 2025 - In a turn of events, my VARR was completed (Step 5 of 5 for a second claim on VA.gov)
6 Oct 2025 - MCS confirmed my VARR was completed and will be sent to my PEBLO NLT 6p
7 Oct 2025 - Waiting to receive final rating proposal from PEBLO

I’m assuming you’re still waiting on the PEB to adopt the new ratings from the VARR? I’m Navy and had my VARR completed September 16th and sent back to PEB and PEBLO but navy/marine corps system was down for an update for 3 weeks and that rolled right into the shutdown. So far it’s been radio silence with no instruction for what to expect during the shutdown.

My first new rating was updated right after the FPEB. I am still waiting to even find out what the results of the VARR are from my PEBLO. After that I assume it will take a while to take affect because the Air Force isn’t processing retirements or separations dated after 30 Sept
 
Where did you get that info? Is that because of the Government shutdown?

I asked the MSC at my regional office. I have not seen the results unfortunately because the Air Force office that would put it in the system for my PEBLO to see is furloughed. The Air Force personnel center put out a message about separations and retirements not being processed--similar to the Army if you have seen that news.

Is the IPEB also working then? I was under impression they are also furloughed..

I also thought they were all furloughed, but the person that signed my corrected 356 (the PEB president for my case) is a Lt Col, so they must have military slowly working through cases!

I see. Im looking in global, and can see most of the civilians have been furloughed. All thats left is a Col and a Lt Col lol.

2 Dec 2025 - Per the TFSC: Your case has been forwarded to the office of primary responsibility for review/action.
Looks like this needs to be done before I will have orders pending :/

I asked a question in myFSS! From the homepage, you have to click the three lines in the top right corner.

That was all they gave me. I think I'll be submitting a case/asking a question every few days since AFPC refuses to provide a general update about medical sep/ret.

Every time I’ve tried to submit an inquiry they always come back and tell me to go talk to my peblo . It’s so annoying

Update: Finally received my orders! Per the email my PEBLO sent me, AFPC approved my retirement on 30 Oct, though nothing was sent to my PEBLO until today. Received an automated email about our a new document having been uploaded into PRDA and there they were! DOS: 11 Mar 26
