hi! I have lymphedema in my legs, my left is worst than my right. My provider sent me to a specialist in ft Sam Houston, Texas. I scheduled my follow up appointment its in two weeks. My squad leader was talking to me the other and he said with me not being able to run and ruck my chance for MEB is very high. I am on profile with running rucking and lower body exercise at my own pace and distance. I was just wondering if I could tell my provider to start the process or does he have to start it on his own findings. Also I was wondering on an average how long does it takes for just one condition. Thank you in advance!

The medical folks start MEBs. The cause of the lymphedema should be important in determining if you are fit or unfit.

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

Techincally, it takes 12 months or more of being placed on a temporary profile to initiate a referral with potential acceptance into the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process.

As such, I offer that you review my URL as annotate below for detailed information about the entire process:
Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer!"

Best Wishes!

Hi Everyone, I'm just trying to get some information for my own piece of mind and understanding. I'm not quite sure how to work this forum and start a new thread, so I'm hoping someone can see this and reply back with some information for me. My husband's ETS date is in the beginning of May of this year. There is talk of his PCM possibly getting the MEB process started but nothing has been confirmed as they are waiting for MRI's and Ultrasounds to come back. All we know is that he has a protruding disc in his back, muscle tear or missing muscle between his calf and foot and onset of osteoporosis as they call it osteopenia. He's thinking about putting in his orders in the next week or two to just clear because they aren't giving him any final answers and we need to figure out what we are doing asap as we have a Son and figuring out our transition-(I.E-jobs, healthcare, living situation). Would it be smart to wait it out and see if MEBs would even be an option at this point, given he only has 2 months left before his ETS date? or is it unheard of for them to start the MEBs process this close to his ETS date?

My experience: initial sick call for back around a year ago. Kept going for back. Kept getting a week to two week profiles. Different meds. Around 5 months they reffered me to physical therapy. Did a month of it. Then another round. Neither helped. Refered me to physicl medecine. Did a few thing over about 3 month period. Been on temps for around a year.recent one being a 90 day temp. Did a epidural imjection. Made it way worse. Physicl therapy made it worse btw. Then i had an apt this mourning. Amd he said i have no other option but meb. He said we have exhaustes all treatment options. Amd meb is the only option i have he put paperwork in today for my meb. And he said im unfit for duty. He says im a liability not am asset. Im gone. Hope this helps.

So update on my "MEB"... so my dr in physical medicine told me at my follow up that I have no other choice but a MEB. so he "told me" that he was putting my paperwork in for a medboard and that I am unfit for duty. that was Wednesday. so something told me to check on it. he bold face lied to me. nothing was ever initiated and he never even put anything in my notes that he recommends a meb. SO HE BOLD FACE FUCKING LIED TO ME!!!! so I called the on base ombudsman. and she said after I follow up with my pcm on the 21st of august if she don't inititate a meb and tries giving me the run around that I need to call her back. this is fucking bull shit. I got lied to by a high ranking officer. what should I do guys...????? please help. im tired of getting the run around. these assholes don't give one shit about me and I can't even pick up my kids anymore because my back and neck hurt so much. IM SICK OF THIS SHIT!!!! these people don't care im in pain. they have proof already my back is fucked up.

Will a meb get denied if you dint seek second opinion? I was never told that i could or knew i could seek second opinion till recently.

Well at least in my situation I was able to request a MEB. All I had to do was fill out some paperwork with my command....

Mines been initiated. But they said they will call back and let me know if it gets denied or accepted.

Ya my pcm turned in my stuff. But for some reason some lady just called me and said it can get denied or accepted. Maybe because they said they dont have my medical files yet. But they said ut can proceed with out it. Their just waiting on it. I dint know their confusing me. Big time

Yeah man I understand the frustration. Just keep a positive attitude as best you can and things will work out
