medically unfit with 10% severance

"The PEB has deemed you as separated with severance pay at 10% .You will no longer need to have any more examinations . " - I received this today after my TDRL exam.

I was initial rated 50% by the DoD and 80% by the VA. I've been trying to google the answer, but can anyone tell me how this works? What changes from here as far as VA benefits and will those ratings also change?

How long do we have health coverage before I have to buy my own?

I havent signed anything yet, should I get legal involved? I served 6 years, most of my injuries have gotten better, but they're not completely cured.

Thanks

It is my understanding that the VA rating will not change.

One or more of the other board members will be able to help you with the other matters.

Did you happen to find out how long you’ll have tricare after this decision?

They may recoup your severance from your VA disability, ALL your healthcare is free from the VA because you are over 50% disabled.

I am asking for my spouse. I wasn’t sure how long after their decision tricare would be taken away. I haven’t had my re-evaluation yet just trying to prepare for the best.

Hello everyone. Got a call from peblo and they started I am being separated @ 10% but I am 100% va. Primary diagnosis is narcolepsy with cataplexy sleep apnea and blood clot condition. I am fighting it. Any help on what to do will be awesome. 17.5 years active navy. Joined 2001 June on dep boot camp Jun 2002. Everything I find shows more for narcolepsy with cataplexy. I cant drive without meds and I am on max dose and still fall asleep

You should definitely be getting more than 10% but I'm unfamiliar with the appeal process too. On separate note, did they send you to Lackland AFB for your sleep study or to further confirm your sleep disorder diagnosis?

No. But I have the diagnosis from a doctor in town with all the paperwork stating so and it's in my records

@mrcutter

What's your VA rating for the identical PEB conditions? any VA rating that wasnt considered unfit and referred to the PEB doesn't count.

10% narcolepsy with cataplexy VA wrong %
60% pulmonary embolism VA
50% sleep apnea VA

Found out narcolepsy with cataplexy was rated only narcolepsy. So that is why that % is wrong

If the condition doesnt have its own scheduled rating they can use the closest one it resembles or combine with another since the VA rating matches what the DoD proposed I dont know how you are gonna appeal without an outside doc evaluation. Apparently your C&P exam supported this rating have you reviewed that yet?

I haven't been able to access them on eBenefits I will try again. But that's what the disability rating is from the VA in the documentation from the VA results. Does a c&p exam State percentages as well? Or is it stating what the VA is using for my percentages

My sleep studies doctor is the one who said I have narcolepsy with cataplexy which is well-documented as severe and he is a non-military doctor
