I feel better now that I have shared this information. I am currently awaiting the fitness determination. After reading other posts on this board, I expect (hope) to have the determination by the end of the month. My main issue is that I do not like being on hold; in that - I have accepted that my Marine Corps career is ending and I will be moving forward. However, I cannot apply for civilian employment until I know my retirement date (I am over 15 years and will be applying for TERA - which I also cannot do until I get the fitness determination). I appreciate any thoughts on: when will I hear back from the PEB regarding fitness, how long it takes to get the initial VA rating, and how long it takes once you challenge the VA rating?

If the PEB accepted the case Aug 2, I would anticipate that you will have an answer on everything in approximately 3 months from that date. It is not as quick as you think that it may be. The PEB will not tell you when they find you fit or unfit however if it populated that it is sent to the VA in your MOL then you know. Sorry man, just sit back and enjoy the ride nothing about this process is quick and you will be kept in the dark for it until it is all the way back. We all hate the unknown but you can’t do anything about it in this case.

Is that three months to get a determination (unfit) or for the whole process to finish?

I am on month 2.5 currently after the PEB receiving my paperwork and have still not found out a determination however they are saying that it is taking between 2-3 months for everything to be done and back

Then I suppose you would have to add another 2-3 months after that for a retirement/separation date.

To my understanding 10 days after you sign your results you can call HQMC and have them change your EAS on the spot. They will add in 20 days PTAD that they give you along with whatever leave you have and give you a new EAS so that depends on slot. Will you accept your findings as they are given to you, how many leave days you have, etc

Update: I spoke with the PEBLO and I called the PEB (thanks to this website for the number). I spoke with a Gunny who told me that my package was still on the MO's desk. He said that they have about 3,000 packages which explains why this process seems to take so long. Between the PEBLO and the PEB - the average time for the PEB process is 90-120 days (as oppose to the 15 days that the military disability made easy website claims). I have adjusted my plans for retirement out to Mar 31 given this information.

(202) 685-6422 I tried most of Wednesday and didn't get through to anyone. I called Thursday morning at 0939 and got through (to my surprise).

I’ve been blowing that number up and they never answer for me. Thank you, I guess I will try again after the 96

I've been sitting in IPEB for over 50 days. Just don't stop calling.

I called that number this morning and got a status update. Spoke to a Sgt. who was super informative!

There has got to be someone dropping the ball....no one should be at IPEB for more than 2 weeks. i was sent to IPEB and called my PEBLO within 9 days for an update. She informed me that I was found 'unfit' and my stuff was already sent to VA for ratings. VA received them the following day(per my MyPers email i received).

You really need to push your PEBLO for answers...It's your life/career on the line.

I agree you really need to push your PEBLO but also call the PEB. I had my results sent up on Sep 3rd according to the PEB and I still haven’t heard anything from my PEBLO about them. Thankfully the PEB told me my results so I am prepared for when they do call me.

Every time I ask my PEBLO, I am told that they (inferring the PEB) will contact me once a decision is made. Based off of all of the timelines posted, I would say that the PEB takes 65 days to reach a conclusion. I personally believe that the majority of this time is due to the volume of cases they receive.

We are in the same boat. Mine was sent up the same day

So the PEB told you that they released your findings to your PEBLO? If so, have you heard anything back yet? Its been a week since the PEB told me that they released the findings to my PEBLO and I still haven't received a call yet. I was told I would have 10 days to decide what I wanted to do once these results were released. Has anyone gone through anything similar to this?

Oh crap, nah my package was sent to the VA on the 3rd. I guess I read what you said wrong. How long after you were found unfit did you get your stuff sent back to the VA and all? My bad tho

No problem, My PEBLO told me on July 24th that the PEB found me unfit, I called the PEB on September 4th and they told me they released my findings to my PEBLO on September 3rd. Called my PEBLO that day and he told me he can't help me but he also wouldn't even try to look up my case so I am just sitting her waiting for a phone call. Thankfully the PEB told me what my findings were so I am not as stressed out anymore.
