Navy Timeline-NMC Portsmouth

I'm anxiously waiting for that Post VA QA stage. I am so ready to be done with this process and move on with my life. It is crazy that a QA process is allowed to take 40 to 50 days. My PEBLO told me that she has seen it take up to 80 days. That is crazy, and hopefully none of us end up in that camp. I did call the VA yesterday and they told me my case was moving through their process but it's hadn't received proposed ratings yet. I know that I will end up retired from this process due to being over 20 years and being told there is no way I will be found fit. All I'm waiting for is the VA percentages to put my mind at ease.
I am right there with you! I was fortunate and able to hit my 20 year during the first part of the MEB. What app are you using to see where your status is?

Hitting 20 is a major key! They wanted to med board me at my 17 year mark and I begged my PCM to hold off. He concurred because my injury wasn't disqualifying yet, but he knew it would continue to worsen. And did it worsen, but it got me to 20 so now I can get retirement and disability. I use the VA app just to try and see when my case closes there, but I don't know what system my PEBLO uses to get my current status. I just call her every two weeks and she logs into something and gives me updates. Best of luck on quick results!

Thats great! Very happy to hear that you were able to get to your 20 as well. Also, the fact that you have a good PEBLO and offered to check in with her every 2 weeks is a major blessing. Good for you!

thank you for offering this information! What do you think would be the most direct way to ask about my case, to see where it is at?
Just like that. Directly.

Each time I call, Jeff answers the phone and I say, "Hey, Jeff I'm just wondering if I can get an update on my case."

He'll ask for your social and then provide an update. Takes a couple of minutes at most.

what does it mean when wen your claim compensation was updated? The app says we decided on your claim but when I download the decision letter nothing pops up?

Just got off the phone with Jeff, he's a straight to the point, no nonsense dude, but helpful. He didn't even let me finish my opening statement and just cut me off and asked for my SSN. He clicked around for a bit and said they just received a bunch of cases from the VA, but my case wasn't one of them so my case is still with the VA. I will keep calling Jeff as well because he provides solid updates.

When the VA app says that, it means they have finished rating your case and sent it back to the PEB. I would call the VA and tell them that it says you have a letter, but it doesn't show up and ask them to email your proposed ratings. They are not supposed to send it to you, but this forum has shown that some of them will. If the first one won't call back again until you get someone who will. I just got off the phone with the PEB and they said they received a bunch of cases from the VA this morning, so I bet yours was one of them. Should mean you are going into Post VA QA.

Literally just got off the phone with him! exactly what you said!!! just asked for my social, he said my stuff was sent off to the VA for ratings. He said I was looking at about 4 weeks!?!?! I asked does this mean am I unfit?? he couldn't say? What do you think?

Not to crush your hopes and dreams but the 4 weeks timeline is just a basic run of the mill answer that he gives to everyone. That said, if your case has been closed on the VA app, as @OrdieChief said, call and get your proposed ratings sent to you. It took me quite a few times calling to get them to give it to me but I told them "I was viewing the letter in the app earlier and now, it won't load, can you send email it to me?"

DO NOT MENTION IDES/MEDBOARD/etc. They will immediately refer you to your PEBLO and the conversation will be over.

As far as remaining time is concerned, the key piece of information your looking for is when your case goes into Post VA QA. From there you have anywhere from 40 to 50 days before you get the call from your PEBLO with findings.

I just got off the phone with the VA and they sent me my letter, all it states is that they are working on my claim. So with everything that you mentioned, you tbink I am looking at 40 to 50 days? and by the sounds of it? would it be safe/fair to assume I may have been found unfit?

That's interesting. If the claim shows closed in the app, the letter should have your proposed ratings on it. Safe to say that if the VA is working on ratings for you, you were found unfit. There's no reason to produce ratings for someone who was found fit. You would just be returned to duty and the IDES process would be over.

As far as the 40 to 50 days timeline is concerned, you can't really start that timer until you get confirmation from the PEB that your case is in the Post VA QA phase.

Dang, I thought the letter would have your proposed ratings on it. I am not sure of the unfit thing, but I would assume that if the PEB found you fit, they wouldn't waste the time of sending it to the VA. That's what I am thinking and going with in my mind.

Yeah that is what I am thinking. Found unfit and just working on my ratings!?!?! Would have been cool to see what the proposed ratings would have been???? I will continue to be patient..

Thank you both @ordie Chief and @usmc0612 had I not asked you both the questions. I would seriously just prolly been waiting until July!?!?! Now I know or at least assume my case is moving forward and it looks like I am unfit!?!?!?!

**UPDATE**
11 Apr 2024- Spoke with the VA just now and was told that my case is Decision Ready. I check the app multiple times a day because I am just anxious about this whole process, and it keeps showing no claims. So I just called today and the rep pulled up my case with me on the phone and said that my claim is decision ready. Hopefully the decision is made soon and my proposed ratings can be obtained.

That’s great! I hope you get an answer by the end of the week!!! Every time I check the app, the letter says it’s ready but when I download it nothing opens. Sucks that they just couldn’t have told you over the phone if your claim decision is ready.

**UPDATE**
18 Apr 2024- Called the VA again today since I've been in the Decision Ready phase for two weeks with no further update. She told me I was still in the decision ready phase and to just keep waiting. Then she put me back on hold and checked for the last time my case had been touched by someone at the VA. When she came back on the phone she stated that my claim hasn't been touched since 27 March 2024 when it went decision ready. It was sent from the PEB to the VA on 24 March 2024, so within three days it was rated, but no decision has been made in 22 days. Is there anyway to get in touch with someone else at the VA to get this moved off the desk that it is just sitting on?

Just called the PEB number. They said it was in the finalization stage of fit or unfit. How long does this normally take? I know every case is different but I was just wondering other's experience. Thanks!

Hopefully someone who has gotten to this step replies because I would also like to know. As of this morning, I'm still awaiting a VA decision and haven't gotten to this point yet.

I was in the "Presiding Officer' stage for about a month, maybe a little longer, your PEBLO/Lawyer should be able to tell you roughly where you are in the list they receive. Once i hit the top of the list, I was there for a few days and when i called back this morning I was informed I was sent over to QA on Friday.
