So back in February I had a pretty extensive knee surgery. I ended up having a complication, and had to have another surgery. I'm still in rehab trying to get back to somewhat of a normal. Nobody ever brought up a meb so I never asked, because I didn't want to seem like the person who was fishing for a meb. I was proactive initiated my claim with the VA. Sent my ETS packet to transitions and was doing everything I needed to do to get enrolled into school. My ETS date 05 January 20. Well October 22 my provider called me and asked me to speak to him. I said yeah I'll be right in. He looked at my leg, and was like I think you should take a meb. In my opinion you'd qualify to go through the process. I told him about my ETS date and he said a medical extension could get done for me to go through the meb process. I accepted the offer, and have been doing everything that my peblo has been saying I need to do. The thing is my commander wasn't thrilled about me taking the meb. It's to my understanding that the commander gets the packet together for extension and sends it up. Well I guess the CG hasn't been approving the medical extensions and has asked the IDES building on post to speed the process up. They've told him it doesn't necessarily work that way, and the process takes time. It's now Nov 20th and I'm still in limbo on the medical extension. I've had two meetings with my CMDR and I've basically gotten the same thing from her time and time again about how the CG is not approving the extensions. My stress levels are through the roof because I don't want to ultimately get screwed in the end by messing up my terminal leave that was supposed to happen on NOV 26th. Should I just cancel the meb, and clear on leave? Or should I hope everything ultimately works itself out? I really don't know who to talk to about this situation... I'm active army by the way.
