Need support-starting IRILO and very nervous

Hello, I’m looking for any support, this whole process is very stressful. I have exhausted trying to communicate with my providers, they don’t seem competent in the process and I’m nervous about how my case is being managed.

For starters, I am a reservist, and was medically removed from a flying training. Program for health issues, diagnosed with adjustment disorder. This was feb of 2021. I was immediately DnIf. It’s been approx 10 months, I finally found a Med that is helping after 4 that didn’t and one sent me to the ER. Flt Med referred me to the IRILO after 3 months of dnif, but I just found out in December. Now I’m asking my provider what has changed, her response was that “I will be dnif beyond 365 days”. This feels like a catch 22, I can’t get returned to fly without a waiver for the Med I am on (Wellbutrin is approved for aerospace medicine). And yet she won’t submit my waiver bc the IRILO is pending. Does this make any sense? Additionally, when I asked mental health what is the period of stability required to be consider in “remission” or deemed “fit for duty” bc as the human this is affecting it seems if my symptoms are stable I have demonstrated both of those conditions. I was told by the mental health provider she didn’t know and would try to clarify.

When I tried to request my mental health records I was questioned by MH and denied until they could discuss them with me. I had an apt that same day and she wouldn’t discuss them with me or permit me to have access.

This all feels wrong to me. Why would a flyer need to be irilo’d simply because they exceeded 365 days dnif? Again, logic being that the waiver needed to return me to fly takes several months to process and await results. So why am I as the member being punished for that crappy timeline? We have two seemingly opposite processes happening simultaneously. IRILO-is this member fit to serve and flying waiver-let’s get this person back on flight status. If a member is showing progress near the time of the IRILO, does that change anything? I feel like it’s too little too late and my improvement over the past 3 months isn’t being taken into consideration.

I’ve been doing great at work, excellent pt score, quarterly award, no issues, command supports me. I’m confused what is driving this, does simply being dnif beyond 365 mean I’m automatically going to an IRILO? That seems like a really inefficient way of screening folks. Also, if I have only been dnif 3 months when I was referred, what the actual heck is that about?
Am I making any sense?

You have a right to your medical records. See this link: Your Medical Records I would escalate if they will not give you access to them. As to the other stuff my knowledge is limited for the AF so hopefully someone else can give you some guidance.
