Hey all,

Can someone please help me calculate some CRSC #s for me. I cannot get to the calculator online.

Here’s what I just received from the PEBLO.

80% Disability Rating from the Army. I’ve had 80% on the VA Side for over 2 years now. My AD Time is 4 yrs 4 months.

VA = $1,767.69
Disability Rating % pay
75% x $2,664.01 = $1,998

Years of service computation

2.5% x 4 yr 4 months = $2,664 retired base pay = $283.05 retired pay.

So I’ll receive the full $1,998, but $1,767.69 is tax free and the remainder is taxed.

How do I calculate my CRSC pay now?

Here’s what I just received from the PEBLO.

80% Disability Rating from the Army. I’ve had 80% on the VA Side for over 2 years now. My AD Time is 4 yrs 4 months.

VA = $1,767.69
Disability Rating % pay
75% x $2,664.01 = $1,998

Years of service computation

2.5% x 4 yr 4 months = $2,664 retired base pay = $283.05 retired pay.

So I’ll receive the full $1,998, but $1,767.69 is tax free and the remainder is taxed.

How do I calculate my CRSC pay now?
1. 4.33 yrs x 2.5% = 10.8% multiplier
2. 2664 high three (inferred ) x 0.108 = 287.71 longevity portion of retired pay
3. 1998 gross retired pay will be reduced by amount of VA compensation; 1998 minus ~1768 = 230 residual retired pay
4. The CRSC for a CH 61 retiree (with <20 yrs AD) when combined with residual retired pay cannot exceed the longevity portion of retired pay
5. Longevity portion of retired pay = 287.71 minus residual of 230 results in 57.71 CRSC
6. Your payments each month:
---VA compensation = 1767.69
--Residual retired pay = 230
--CRSC = 57.71

I did not re-compute most of the figures you used and used rounding in a couple of places.

Ron,

Thanks for the input. I think no matter what I should still apply for the benefits. $691.52 a year tax free isn’t too bad in my eyes.

I would do the same...

Good luck,
Ron

p.s.
The DFAS calculator that was online had not been updated since 2014 and had other flaws.
