Retro Pay timeline.

Right at 60 calendar days

I believe some will take longer. Especially those going back 4-5- 6 years or so.

I still don't think its a hard computation but the money would have been lower for each previous year. Back pay for 2013 would be lower than 2014, 2014 would be lower than 2015 and so on.

Speaking with Ron, he doesn't recommend that because they haven't updated it since 2014.

So it won't accurately show 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 or 2019. Also, it will be off for the 2013 and previous years rates.

I guess it could give you a good base idea on the split between DOD/VA/CRSC but the numbers will be off.

Hi Mike,

In my opinion, most of the delay during the processing cycle, whether service consideration of the application or DFAS processing the results, is “getting to it.”

The often heard phrase, “It is being worked on,” usually means they haven’t reached that particular claim yet. My opinion is based on experience working with a never-ending flow of claims and documents on a large scale.

Ron

I just talked with DFAS this morning and I was told my audit hasn’t started yet. I was told last month it was started on the 7th. They tell me 90-120 days once it actually starts. I was approved back in November and I’m getting very frustrated with this.

Like an old soldier told me remember it's a good thing your in the system it just takes time for you to be pushed to the front of the line. Occupy your time with other things till your number is called and trust me I and many others understand your frustration.

I am still waiting for back pay. Hit 90 days and have the same answer, " its processing".
Is there any other number or anywhere I can call to get an official inquire or more information. I cannot get past a tier 2 specialist that says all they can do is tell me it's in the audit process.
Fyi, VA has no information whatsoever ever

The only number I have is the number for DFAS ,1800-321-1080. I actually talked to them again on Friday. They told me the Army sent them a new letter they just got on the 7th of March. I haven't received that letter yet but I was told they made a mistake on my original letter. They had two ratings, 10% from July 2014 - July 2017 and 70% from July 17th to present. The new letter states it's 70% from July 2014 to present now. They also told me that my timeline starts over now and there is no way to speed it up.

Ok, thank you for the information. Knowing this, I am thinking I might be in a similar problem. I was 60% from Apr 2013 to Apr 2104 and 80% from Apr 2014 to present. I do remember they had an issue with my original crsc letter. Atleast now I have an idea of what may or may not be the case.
Thank you, much appreciated.

Congrats.. still waiting here
awesome... I’m still waiting and with three calls in which mines had to be expedited to finish processing bc all information was reached, audit complete, and I’m over 120 days.... sad case but I hope they get it right soon.

If you are having issues with DFAS reach out to a congress person, they have minions who can poke around

As an update...
Still waiting on my retro. I got my first payment in December and when I called this week they said another week or two and I should call back. I threatened the “writing my congressman” card and said if I did that they wouldn’t be able to talk to me anymore. I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m outside the 120 days after the first payment for retro now. It doesn’t matter if I call or request an update on ASK DFAS I can’t get the same answer from anyone I talk to. I escalated (whatever that means) and got a letter that said I would be paid 30-60 days from then and it’s coming up on 60 days already. For context I know my retro goes back to 2014 but I’m beyond frustrated by the time this is taking.

Upon an initial award, the VA electronically advises the DFAS of the waiver being in place. In most instances, the VA never sends a paper copy of the election to DFAS, unless requested by DFAS.

Having seen a dozen or so similar cases, the VA always requested the election form be sent to them. These scenarios were when the retiree obviously made the wrong choice on the initial claim form.

If this was my case, I would send send copies to both the VA and the DFAS.

It appears you are on the right path.

Ron

Update to CRSC:

January 2 2019 CRSC received Packet.

January 9 2019 CRSC Letter received (was denied: due to not having VA Waiver “in Lieu of”.

April 25 2019 VA waiver approved, received and uploaded to DFAS and VA.

May 3 2019 Sent CRSC Reconsideration Form with re-attached Documentation.

May 6 2019 Verified with CRSC Department that they received Reconsideration Form Packet, was told that it is being processed and of now.

My question is, if it is being processed wouldn’t it be uploaded to my Documents in the HrC web portal? So far all I was told is that it is being processed and would likely take 3-4 months to complete. Other than verbal proof by CRSC representatives saying it is being processed, will I be getting or receiving something in form of a letter that my packet is really being processed? Any and all information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
