RILO - What is it? Is it good or bad?

Hi. I haven't visited here for a while as things have been on hold for me medically. However, today I got word that my Mil Dr. is considering doing a RILO on/for me. I am not sure what this is, or how it may affect me. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could explain what it is...Google doesn't really give an explanation for it. Many thanks in advance for any info you can provide. If there is another place on this forum where I can find the info, I will be more than happy to look at it also. I did a search for RILO, but not much came up. Thanks again!

Thanks Xeno! Says a RILO takes place "after an MEB"...I have not yet had an MEB (has been pending for almost 2 years now, and noone has yet put pencil to paper).

- Is this an easy way out for a Mil Dr, so they don't have to do a complete package?
- Or possibly a way to buy more time?

I have been begging for them to do the MEB for almost the whole 2 years, regardless of the outcome, as everyone knows how heavily it weighs on ones mind...and the family members too.

AF Docs also use the term RILO (Review in leiu of) as a workaround or a first "stab" at an MEB. Basically, they send your info down to AFPC and AFPC gives the thumbs up to do a full MEB or do a fast track MEB. I guess it saves them(local board) time because it keeps them from doing an MEB on someone AFPC is just going to reject or say doesn't need an MEB.

I am paraphrasing here...I have a handout my PEBLO gave me that has the specifics...but it is at the office. Then after an MEB(assuming you get RTD) ---yes you get a RILO every year. A quick communication between your PEBLO(or PCM?) and AFPC to make sure you don't need an MEB. So even if you get a RTD...you're always on a short leash every year....
